Sikkim: World's First 100% Organic State || Receives UN Award ||

Sikkim receives UN award for becoming world’s first 100 percent organic state . The award is co organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the World Future Council (WFC) and IFOAM – Organics International.

“Let us build an organic world together,” Chief Minister Kumar Chamling, Sikkim Democratic Front- said while accepting the award from* FAO’s* Deputy Director Maria Helena Semedo, who praised the state for setting an example.

Sikkim’s organic farming policy is said to have benefited over 66,000 farming families and boosted incoming tourism.

Italian MP Rossella Muroni, the Free and Equal Party leader on the Environment Committee, congratulated Chamling and Sikkim for their pioneering work and showing how organic farming is possible. As per Action Plan 2003 the first step in the process of making the shift towards organic was to get rid of the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, creating awareness among farmers for the benefits of organic food.

Another lovely post @sabya and superb photography. You have special talent in taking photos. We could never imagine this to be part of India ( it looks similar to the ones in Bali, Indonesia, where I had visited)

Can you please mention the type of cameras used so that guys like me in Connect would be curious.
