Midway between Kurama and Ohara, along route-40, Kyoto City, (map location - Google Maps) lies the settlement of Shizuhara and, nestled at the base of a hill overlooking the settlement, is this delightful shrine. Anytime of year is a great time to explore this settlement. Access can be by motor vehicle, or bicycle or, if you enjoy hiking, there is a track commencing at Kurama and emerging at Ohara.

I had a chance visiting Japan in 2023 but didn’t have a chance to go to kyoto.

Hi ‘SoniaK’ - thanks for viewing and your comment. Kyoto, and Nara, were both once Imperial Capitols of Japan and there is history abound. I’m more of an ‘Off the beaten track’ explorer, away from the many millions of people who visit these two cities. And the settlement of Shizuhara is just one, of many, places that are untouched by the tourists. If you are thinking of returning, and coming to this area of Kinki, touch base with me.
Seems like a peaceful place @theoutdoorholic thanks for sharing. I have many beautiful memories about my time in Kyoto almost 3 years ago, one of the most charming places that I had the pleasure to meet.

I visited Kyoto 3 years ago, but as a overseas traveler with limited time, I could touch only the top sites in town.
