Hello Local Guides
I am excited to feature the She Leads inspiring journey of @doc_dells (Denliana) a medical doctor, Mother and passionate Local Guide from South Tangerang, Indonesia. Deliana is committed to improving public health and championing accessibility, and her contributions to both her local community and the global Local Guides network are truly remarkable.
Here’s a glimpse into Deliana’s story:
When and how did you become a Local Guide?
I joined the Local Guides community in 2020 after learning about it from Google. As a long-time user of Google Maps, I had always shared reviews and ratings. When I discovered the Local Guides Connect community and connected with fellow Local Guides, my passion for contributing grew. Now, I love sharing details about places that promote well-being and accessibility, and I’m particularly focused on reviewing healthy dining spots and ensuring accessibility for all.
What inspires you to contribute to Local Guides Connect?
I’m inspired by the opportunity to connect with a global community, share knowledge, and advocate for accessibility. I aim to promote inclusivity by sharing information about places that cater to diverse needs—whether that’s facilities for the elderly, women, or families with children. My goal is to make places more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
What is your favourite type of contribution? Why?
My favourite contributions are the detailed reviews I write, especially those that cover accessibility features. By including information about toilets, seating arrangements, power supply, WiFi, and other important amenities, I ensure that people can make informed decisions based on their unique needs.
How do you define leadership, and what does it mean to you?
Leadership, for me, is about inspiring and empowering others to achieve shared goals. It’s about leading by example, championing inclusivity, and fostering collaboration. By sharing my expertise, especially in health and accessibility, I aim to make a positive impact and create a more accessible world.
What keeps you motivated to lead and contribute?
My motivation comes from the desire to improve public health and advocate for inclusivity. I’m also inspired by the positive impact I can have on others through my contributions. Seeing the real difference I can make in my community and around the world keeps me going.
Who inspires you the most, and why?
My greatest inspiration is my mother. She was a true leader in our community, balancing her work as a health professional with her dedication to social work. She founded a free literacy program and pioneered disability rehabilitation, all from our garage. Her selflessness and commitment to community service have shaped the way I approach leadership.
Have you faced any challenges? How did you overcome them?
Balancing a demanding career with family responsibilities is a challenge many women face. I’ve learned to prioritize self-care and set boundaries. Time management has been key in balancing my work, advocacy, and contributions to Local Guides, and I try to empower others by sharing my experiences and solutions.
What message would you like to share with women around the world?
To women everywhere: Believe in your power. Be strong, resilient, and united. Lift each other up. Pursue your passions, embrace your authentic selves, and prioritize your well-being. Remember, balancing your dreams with self-care is essential. Together, we thrive.
Deliana’s story is about the power of combining professional expertise with a deep commitment to improving the world around us. Her leadership, advocacy for accessibility, and dedication to public health are truly inspiring.
