Share Your Airport Diaries - Pune

I am in love with this series started by the talented local guide and Guiding Star @Pratik_89

He has shown a great way to enjoy a mundane place like an airport where there is seemingly nothing else to appreciate other than a security check, boarding gates, and check-in counters

Here, I was at the Pune airport traveling to Delhi to catch a connecting flight to Tokyo to attend the LG Connect Moderators Meeting on October 17, 2023.

This huge ceiling fan caught my attention in the main waiting area.

This is probably the largest ceiling fan at any airport in the World.

My guess tells me the blades could be anything between 6-8 feets.

Besides that, there were many artworks and murals on display in the various sections of the airport.

Another artwork was this city skyline of Pune - the city of temples, castles, statues and modern IT Parks as well.

A very large photo of the main entrance of Pune Palace was also displayed.

This is famously known as the ‘Shaniwar Wada’.

Illustrations from the various events and history of the Pune region are on display.

Another interested spot was the free water fountain and drinking water bottle filler that will save passengers a lot of money during travel.

Another interesting section was the secluded baby feeding room. This is a great provision since breastfeeding in public area is not part of the culture of India.

Do you find this interesting @Sophia_Cambodia - how is the practice out there in Cambodia?

I have been to the airport in my own hometown of Pune after 15 years since I mostly travel by road.

So, everything was new and surprising to me, a lot had changed.

More airport diaries on way… watch out this space.

That was not what I meant @Sophia_Cambodia

As a mother of an infant, I was only curious to know about the practice of breastfeeding in a public place in Cambodia.

I know this is a common practice in the US where we have both travelled well.

I completely agree with you, this airport diaries series by Pratik is truly amazing and a great way to appreciate the often overlooked spaces like airports. Your post about the Pune airport was an interesting read. The different artworks and murals displayed throughout the airport are eye-catching. It’s great to see that the airport has incorporated local elements like the Pune skyline and the Shaniwar Wada into their designs. It’s always surprising to revisit a place after many years and see how much it has changed. Thankyou @TusharSuradkar for sharing your airport diaries with us, I am looking forward to reading more about your recent travels and experiences in Tokyo.

I didn’t look at the whole topic just the airport topic itself @TusharSuradkar so I was talking about the airport. I traveled alone so I haven’t really paid attention to the baby feeding rooms at the airport yet. It might come naturally once I travel with him. However, I did see the breastfeeding room at the baby shop at one of the bigger malls in Phnom Penh.

Hi @TusharSuradkar thank you for mentioning me sorry I am late to reply as I was traveling.

You are absolutely right there is nothing more interesting to do other than security check and baggage clearance rest 2 hours you just sit idle and do nothing.

The mural painting is really interesting and ofcourse the skyline of Pune. I really love read those paintings and the brief Below the paintings.

Thank you once again let’s keep going and share as many great airport diaries with all our lovely local guides :grinning:
