Shake it to wake it!

Hi all,

What is the most direct way to send feedback in the Google Maps app?

Well, I think shaking it! Just “Shake it to Wake it”. While this is the slogan of Orangina :tangerine: , it is really useful for several apps, including Google Maps, too!

In recent years when drawing the road was available on the app only, it was a bit hard to tap on different buttons and follow steps only to reach the drawing interface.

So, I enabled the “Shake” option and whenever I’m on the go and see a road needs change or addition, I just shake my phone to be able to fix the road.

After enabling road editing on the desktop, I use this option less but is still very useful. Especially when I want to send feedback about the app. For example, as @MortenCopenhagen suggested here.

Indeed this Shake option caused me to send more feedback about changes or features I want. Moreover, the new interface of Send Feedback is much better and simpler and encourages me to do more!

So you can shake your phone to send feedback about many things. Here is how:

  1. On the app, tap on your profile picture to open the menu.

  2. Tap on the Settings.

  3. Go down and enable “Shake to send feedback”.

Since now, no matter in which part of the app you are. You can shake the phone to send feedback or fix something like a road or POI on the map

I think this is a useful tool and helps to engage more with the map.

Very helpful reminder of a powerful option, especially from any screen @Amiran - I know there’s been times where I’ve meant to send feedback and by the time I’ve worked my way through menus or options I’ve forgotten :joy: .

I travel only on my motor bike and many places are not on Google Maps, this makes it easier for me to edit the right name, right place, right route on the map live, let’s see. @Amiran by the way thanks for reminding Google maps settings.

Many times we are not able to understand the setting properly but with a little effort someone’s problem can be solved. Thankyou so much @Amiran :handshake:
