It’s not often one finds a beautiful natural green spot in the heart of the city. That’s exactly what happened to me as I was visiting a part of town that I don’t frequent, and Google Maps had prompted this place for me to explore! Another example on how Google Maps is my companion to discover new experiences, especially places I don’t know existed before.
This is the Shah Alam Botanical Gardens, my first time visiting (https://g.page/SANBG?share ). It’s like a hidden green lung within the Shah Alam city, not too far from where I live.
[Picture below] - A rather hidden path away, lead me to this beautiful grand entrance. It’s funny how I live in a place and never been here before, after so many years.
[Picture below] - The actual main gate and ticketing counter is just as grand, with a canopy cover, and Covid-19 checks with contact tracing all enforced. The entrance fee is RM 3 for adults (about USD 0.70) and RM 1 (USD 0.25) for children and senior citizens. A steal for such a wonderful place.
[Picture below] - Printed maps (highly recommended) are available free from the ticketing counter. And the area is very wide and with many attractions. All natural and green. Without this, I could have got lost because of my first time visiting.
[Picture below] - Near the main entrance is the paddy fields. Our staple food is rice, and hence, this is a very important thing for us. To be able to visit and set foot in a real paddy field is an amazing feeling.
[Picture below] - Walking along, there are plenty of water features and lakes with nice places to relax under the shade of trees under the hot sun.
[Picture below] - Lotus plants covering the lake surface creates an ethereal feeling of nature, right near the city center.
[Picture below] - Many resting spots are there, including this shade in the middle of the paddy fields, with water streams passing through.
[Picture below] - There is also a small animal park within the area and worth visiting.
[Picture below] - One of the attractions in the animal park, a deer farm.
[Picture below] - Exploring through the area, there are lots of old tall trees with seating and tables and good place for picnics with friends and family.
[Picture below] - Very tall old tree trunk, scattered throughout the park. Makes this place great for taking pictures.
[Picture below] - More trees and greenery. Getting fresh air, especially in this day where many are situated at home.
Watch the motion-timelapse of the clouds scuttering pass the paddy fields.
This is a great place to visit. Come early and spend at least half the day here. At the moment, they close on Mondays, and for other days, close by 4.30pm.
