The plaque on the main pillar reads : “A humble tribute to the Americans and their allies who lost their lives during the Guadalcanal Campaign 7 August 1942 - 9 February 1943” The memorial is very impressive with six foot marble walls with engravings that explain all the events during the campaign. There is also a big brass plaque with a map of the area which lists all the major battles and events. (see below) Also below is an embedded Google 360 tour of the impressive site.
