Seventy-six years ago - A tribute to allies who fought in the Guadalcanal Campaign - Honiara 1942

The plaque on the main pillar reads : “A humble tribute to the Americans and their allies who lost their lives during the Guadalcanal Campaign 7 August 1942 - 9 February 1943” The memorial is very impressive with six foot marble walls with engravings that explain all the events during the campaign. There is also a big brass plaque with a map of the area which lists all the major battles and events. (see below) Also below is an embedded Google 360 tour of the impressive site. Below that is another 360 tour with embedded multimedia links to pictures of the marble plaques from the site. You can also go directly to the informational panels by clicking this link. I love memorials, but sometimes I don’t feel comfortable taking photos there; this is a clear example of what you can do giving the respect this place deserves.

Congratulations Nick
