I finally came to the North of Europe in Sweden, Uppsala for as an exchange student and there is so much to discover !
And one of the wonder I always wanted to see is the auroras !
Actually, there is a facebook group for aurora’s hunters in Uppsala so I definitely recommend to join it if you want to see them but good locations near the city center are Gamla Uppsala and Uppsala Slott where I was. Don’t forget to choose a cloud-less night !
As you can see, I took a picture of the night sky with my phone ( a Pixel 6 with nightmode ) but I would recommend taking a tripod or equivalent because it went cold really fast but a phone is okay !
@Astromiss What an incredible shot (good job, Pixel! ). Seeing this in person is definitely on my bucket list, but I never imagined how beautiful it could be with city lights in the foreground. I always have a mental image of the Northern Lights viewed over a dark forest or something.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Good luck with school.
Yes totally ! I thought I should go to the wild North to see them or in a field because of the light pollution but it was amazing ! We only see green here but I think in Lapland we also see blue and purple !
That view of Upsala combined with the northern lights over the horizon is a very beautyful picture shared by you @Astromiss .And,of course,a visit to Lapland and Santa Klaus is always in my agenda.
