Sea Trek @Xcaret México

When I went to Xcaret in 2018, I bought this optional activity, they are not included in the general admission, the cost was USD 60.

When you cross the main entrance the staff offer you the activities, then you have to go to the reservation center and wait in a line for about 5 minutes, there are a lot of people in the checkout, when it’s your turn they show you all the optional activities that are available in that day.

When you select an activity, you have to choose at what time you want to do it, we selected it at 15:00 because a lot of people are eating at that time and there are fewer people, then they give you your ticket. You have to be 20 minutes before the activity starts.

When you arrive you make a line and then an instructor shows you a video and gives you important information about how to communicate underwater, with everyone, it’s really important that everyone pays attention.

The 2 most important signals are:
:ok_hand: I´m OK
 I want to get out

Then you have to put all your belongings in a locker and put some aqua shoes. I recommend you to buy yours at Walmart before you go.

Then you make a line and start to get used to the water temperature, it’s a little bit cold, The instructors put the helmet, it weights like 20 kgs. you start to descend slowly to the point that you are 7 meters underwater, there is a railing all along, so no one gets lost, you feel like an astronaut walking on the moon, you will start to see a lot of fish and rays, some times there are even sea turtles, as instructors are feeding them they approach you.

I loved this activity its really worth it, you have to do it at least once in your life.

Tell me, would you like to do it?

Thanks @Ewaade_3A ! At first I didn´t believe the instructor, but when he was giving us the safety advices he invited us to lift a helmet and everyone was amazed.

Saludos.

Fascinating. I know scuba divers have to equalize before they dive, but is it the same when you wear that helmet?

I have a crooked septum in my nose, so it is difficult to establish middle pressure in my ears.

Thanks @user_not_found !

Yes, its the same, instructors give you some tips to get used to the pressure, but if it is difficult for you to establish pressure in your ears, it´s not a good idea to do this activity. :slightly_frowning_face:

That’s so cool @LaloPadilla , I’ve never seen diving like this before! The helmet seems to be connected to an oxygen hose that goes all the way up to the surface. Is that how it works instead of wearing oxygen tanks?

I did some diving in Egypt a few years back and it was one of mt favorite experiences ever. I can’t wait to try it again!
