(“According to Wikipedia ( Satsuma-age - Wikipedia ) SATSU - MAGE is a fried fishcake that originated in Kagoshima, Japan. Flour is mixed to make a compact paste that is solidified through frying. Although it is a specialty of the Satsuma region it is enjoyed all over Japan, even as far as Okinawa.”)
The fried fish cake has an acquired taste for sure, so while the locals love it, slowly Western tourists are starting to come around to liking it. Some may find that the texture and flavor are a little light or do not pack enough punch. Some fish manufacturers are experimenting with newer flavors by adding cheese or corn. In the second picture for sure the wiener works well.

The best pairing option would be super cold draft beer, preferably Spring Valley craft beer.
