Satpula Walk – Where History Meets Calm

I recently explored Satpula, one of Delhi’s underrated historic gems tucked away near Khirki village. Once a water dam and part of Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq’s 14th-century irrigation system, today it quietly stands as a reminder of the city’s layered past.

The structure may not be as polished as the popular monuments, but walking along its old stone arches gives you a real sense of history. What I liked most is that it’s not crowded, you can pause, observe the intricate stonework, and imagine how this dam once supplied water to vast fields.

It’s a quick visit spot, perfect for history buffs or anyone looking to step off the regular tourist trail in Delhi. If you’re around Saket or Khirki, keep Satpula on your list, it’s a hidden chapter of Delhi’s story worth a short stop.

Indeed Satpula bridge is an iconic area in delhi which often gets overlooked. It has a very interesting history as nicely explained in your post. Please do host a meet-up at this place someday, would love to join you. Thanks @Shubham.Singh

I heard about the Satpula bridge or barrage a lot while living in Delhi, but the Google Maps photos were not very encouraging for a visit.

So less of the structure remains now @Shubham.Singh

The first image in B&W looks fabulous, especially the logo stands out :+1:
