This Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco is located inside Golden Gate Park. This is walking distance from San Francisco Botanical Garden and couple of Museums. Even though I have lived in San Francisco Bay area for a long time, this was my first visit to Japanese Tea Garden. There is $10 entry fee for adults between Oct- Feb, it goes to $12 from March - September. There is a discount for San Francisco residents, if you show proof of residence.

Here is the picture of the entrance to the tea garden. Ticket counter is located right at the entrance. They have slightly reconfigured the park to maintain social distancing during this pandemic.Here is shot of the garden with koi pond and tea house which is located in the garden.
This garden was originally created in 1894 as “Japanese Village” exhibit for Mid Winter International exposition. It was 1 acre is size at that time. Now the garden is around 5 acres in size.

There are several stone lanterns through out the park, here is a shot of couple of them which are right next to the pond.
Here is an interesting bridge, which is little difficult to climb, which is very popular with visitors to take pictures. Here you can see few visitors standing to take pictures.

There are couple of pagodas in the park, the red one is very beautiful. There is another larger pagoda, which is undergoing some restoration, garden is doing a fundraising to restore the pagoda.

What is a Japanese garden without a Buddha statue, here is a shot of large Buddha statue in the tea garden.
I don’t get tired of shooting these stone lanterns. in fact I have decided to buy one for my backyard along with couple of Japanese Maple trees. Hopefully I can fulfil my wish!

You can finds stone bridges over those ponds in the park. You can also see warning posted to the visitors to use caution while crossing.

Garden is really beautiful and peaceful, if you like Japanese gardens, you will definitely enjoy this place.
