Raja Hardaul Ki Samadhi, Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Due to the immense efforts of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation, today Orchha is not dependent on any identity and thousands of tourists come here every day from local and abroad. I visited Orchha in October this year which was really memorable. First of all, I visited the tomb of Raja Hardaul, who is respected and revered by all the residents of Bundelkhand even today and no auspicious work is completed without inviting him.
Raja Hardaul was the Diwan of Orchha and was the son of Raja Veer Singh Dev. Veer Singh Dev handed over the throne to his eldest son Jujhar Singh and Diwan to Raja Hardaul who had consumed poison to protect the honor and dignity of his sister-in-law. There is no archaeological and historical evidence available about this Samadhi, but this is the belief about this place.
The wall around this place and the entrance gate have been built by the Municipal Corporation. The remains of some ancient wall can be seen in this wall itself. Where there is a Samadhi, there was an earthen platform on which the residents used to light lamps. The symbolic statue of King Hardaul riding a horse, the throne etc have all been installed at present. This platform has been renovated with marble and covered with a roof and grills have been installed in place of the walls. All this information was made available by the present priest.
I was happy that unknowingly the Orchha tour started from this place where the residents dedicate the first invitation to King Hardaul for any auspicious work.
