Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres

Leafing through an album “Salvador Dali” with illustrations by his strange paintings, every time one is struck by his imagination and unpredictability. Sometimes it seems that his work is simply outrageous that it makes fun of the audience, but watching something terribly interesting. In general, a genius.
Before traveling to Spain, we even could not imagine that we will see with our own eyes many of the works of Dali, see the environment in which he created his masterpieces, see, finally, "surrealism - the reactionary, decadent trend in literature and art, in which hallucinations and delirium, a striking example of the decomposition of bourgeois culture era of imperialism ", as written in the preface to the album "Salvador Dali ", published in the Soviet period in Soviet Union. And so, "a dream of idiot is come ": we’re going to Figueres - birthplace of Salvador Dalí, where there is an amazing museum-theater, designed and built by himself, and in the basement where he was buried.

We had no navigator or Figueres maps, we moved only straight ahead until you got to the area of the roundabout, which turned out to market, and next to it the underground car park. In the parking lot we asked where the Salvador Dalí Museum. We were told that he was very close. It is necessary to go through La Rambla, and the museum will be a few steps away.

Leaving the car in the underground paid parking, we went to the square and looked around in the center of Figueres. Here, everything we liked . All of a sudden, neat, cozy and nice. Magical city!

And we have already crossed the La Rambla (it is behind us). In fact, the local La Rambla - a cozy shady park. Quiet and not fussy. This La Rambla in Figueres. La Rambla is transferred , I like a prospect. As well as in Barcelona, it is a street for walking. Yet behind us on the left you can see a small monument.Estarriol Monturiol Narcís -Catalan th engineer, artist and intelligence al. It is a monument to him. He was izobretate Lemma vnutrenneg first engine on combustion manageableth submarine. Figueres remembers and honors its outstanding citizens. Go ahead.

And here is the famous eggs on the roof of the Salvador Dali Museum. The museum was established on the ruins of the former Municipal Theater, burned down during the 1939 civil war. Dali bought the building in 1970. Salvador Dali museum was opened in September 1974.

The mayor of Figueres, Dali offered to buy the building. Now people come in Figueres, to visit the museum, take pleasure from what he saw and by buying tickets to continuously replenish the coffers of Figueres. 11 euros is the ticket. We buy tickets and courtyard takes a turn. While moving part, osmotrivaem museum courtyard.

Someone similar to Salvador Dali with a TV in the forehead.

This is a real staircase, turning in her image.

We went inside the building, a patio, in a kind of hall. A cylindrical space, the center of whichis the Cadillac of Salvador Dali.

It’s hard to say what the woman on the hood, “pleasant in all respects”, set and set. So it was necessary. This was his inner urge. Salvador Dali himself so once said about his work: "The fact that at the time of work, I do not understand their own patterns, does not mean that they are meaningless; on the contrary, their meaning is so deep, complicated, due to involuntary and that he eludes a simple, intuitive and logical analysis. "

Over Cadillac stands a sailboat that has sails instead of an umbrella. All this design with Cadillac, woman, sailing, umbrella called “Rainy Taxi.” Inside the car on the seated figures pouring rain, but if you omit the coin reveals an umbrella and the rain stops. So it was at the exhibition of Surrealism in Paris in 1938, but the museum Dalí in Figueres we have not already seen it. Moving on. Patio with “Rainy Taxi” was a kind of hall of the theater-museum. Let’s go now directly to the museum.

We are in the main room, on the perimeter of which are located on several floors of the room with the works of Salvador Dali .

Captures the spirit, you can enjoy for a long time, but it’s time, and on the other floors. There is no less interesting.

In one of the rooms exhibited the famous three-dimensional composition “Mae West”. This person is an American actress, playwright, screenwriter, and sex symbol Mae West America.

Dali’s imagination creates the most bizarre compositions.

Even painting the ceiling and walls - shocking.

Salvador Dali suitcase.

The abundance of very interesting and unexpected works of Salvador Dali is staggering, and we go out into the corridor to relax, rub points and to discuss what they see. Corridor itself is impressive. Finally we come to the last room.

Somewhere below, under this dome, lie the remains of Salvador Dali. Even from his burial he came up during his lifetime to make a place where people think about life, about God, about the beauty of the eternal.

We came out of the museum, but at the price of our ticket also includes admission to the museum of Salvador Dali jewelry. A lot of them. For example, the cross. The theme of the cross appears in many works of Dali - in his paintings, his sculptures. And, as we see in the works of jewelry art.

Thankless task - to show photos of genius jewelry. They should see with their eyes, to go down a long dark corridor, the walls of which shine illuminated exhibits - jewels by the great Salvador Dali. Yet another exhibit we show.Ruby heart beating Salvador Dali.

It was a museum of Salvador Dali in Figueres. It was Figueras.

Goodbye, Figueres - a magical city. Everything in it is like in this photo.

Thank you for the wonderful walk, @vit_komarov ! Dali is an eccentric artist for sure. What I absolutely adore about his style is his bravery. The critics was shushed by the moment of surprise implemented in every single work. As an artistic soul, I have always admired that about Salvador Dali and I can see that even his museum has his architectural touch. I am curious to see all the full exhibition, now that you have shown a glimpse of it. What was the most surprising or most touching work which impressed you in person?

Hello @vit_komarov ,

Welcome to Connect!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Dali museum in Figueras and those amazing photos!

While reading your post and looking at the pictures, I remembered the time when I was living in the south of France, in Perpignan.

At the time, I got the chance to visit this same museum twice. However, the presence of Dali, is not only present in the museum, but in the whole region of cities like, Figueras, Girona and Peprignan.

Thank you, BorrisS ! Your comment made me recall our trip from Beziers to Blanes. Perpignan, in which we stopped to rest, absolutely fascinated us, especially the embankment of the river Te.
