Barcelona is a fantastic city. I was also just in Barcelona and took lots of pictures of the outside of the Sagrada Familia. I had intended to go inside to take some 360 photographs but was unaware of the ticket booking system and unfortunately missed out on the opportunity.
There were a couple of issues with sites that had fixed capacities and so we also had the experience of walking up ‘Mount Everest’ to discover that the gardens we wanted to visit had reached capacity at 1pm. Neither of my calves or my wife and daughter were not really impressed. We had travelled to the ‘base camp’ via the green route tour bus. Letting passengers know that sites they were intending to visit had reached, or were close to reaching, capacity seems like the least they could do to help tourists - especially those who might have limited physical capabilities or time.
On the flip side, there seems to be a real effort to offer a good level of support for disabled visitors. My daughter has fibromyalgia, a non-visible disability which is often leaves people with very little energy, lots of pain, anxiety and depression. We went to visit the Palau de la Música Catalana and were asked for a percentage of disability for my daughter - this was completely new to me so I said 90% because on a bad day it can be 100%. She was given free admission and I had free admission as her carer.

A great shot @nigelfreeney , much clearer and sharper than mine. Sorry to hear about your experiences and I know well of your disappointments having experienced similar in other places around the world. I love the detail in this monumental building. Here are a couple of examples:
