Ruta de los murales in Estepona, Spain - street art heaven in Andalusia.

Sunny days, beautiful monuments, charming white town (“pueblos blancos”) and stunning natural wonders - that is what I expected when going to Spanish Andalusia. What I didn’t expect was the abundance of breathtaking murlas incorporated into charming Andalusian towns. One city is particularly unique in this respect. Estepona - that’s the city I’m talking about- attracts tourists with three different trails - murals, poetry and sculptures (“Ruta de los murales”, “Ruta de Poesia” and “Ruta de Esculturas”). Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time in Estepona, so the choice was obvious - I followed th murals trail. :slightly_smiling_face: Although I didn’t manage to see them all. Murals map - check where they are located.

Mural “Fishing Day” (photo below) is one of the biggest mural in Spain. It’s amazing - it covered 1000 m2, it was painted by Jose Fernandez Rios. He is the author of many other street art walls in Estepona.

What I like about this street art route in Estepona is the variety od styles, colors and artists - every murals’ fan can find something interesting. :slightly_smiling_face: I recommend you to visit Estepona, sit in the cafeteria for a cup of coffee, visit the murals route on foot and enjoy art in Andalusia, hopefully during a perfect, sunny day.

Have you ever spotted any murals in Spain? Feel free to share it in the comments below! What is your favourite street art piece and why?

WOW @AniaKiser ! This is amazing. That map is a very cool marketing tool for the City. It looks like it could take a couple of days to make it to all 51 murals.

The cover photo you chose, ‘Watering the Garden,’ is so cool. When artists can paint to make things look 3-dimensional, it always blows my mind. And Jose Rios doing it on a massive scale with such realism is beautiful. What a gift to the City.

Thank you for sharing with us.

@JustJake Thank you for your comment. I love this kind of street art as “Watering the Garden” as it blends in perfectly with the surroundings - in this case with the tree in front of the building.

Hier bei uns sind solche schönen Wandgemälde selten weil in unserer Gegend die Häuser überwiegend verklinkert sind um so interessanten sind die gezeigten Bilder.
