Dargah of Sufi Saint, Roshnibagh, Rosnaiganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, India.
Roshni Bagh is situated on the west bank of Bhagirathi river in Rosnaiganj village. Roshnibagh was built by Nawab Shuja-ud-din Mohammad Khan during his lifetime. This garden was built on the lines of the Persian Garden.
This garden also got the name Roshnibagh or Garden of Lights because in this, attractive lights were arranged in the night by converting magnetic energy into electrical energy. There are octagonal bastions on the four corners of this garden with ribbed roofs. There is a canal and pathways in length. Square and rectangular shaped lawns with floral plants are the inlaid features. On the high platform in the middle is the tomb of Nawab Shuja ud Din Mohammad and the mosque is situated in the northwest corner. It also has a pavilion.
In this garden there is a dargah of a Sufi saint Shah Sufi Baba and his disciple Karim Khan. Black stone inscribed in Persian language is inlaid on this dargah. This dargah complex is surrounded by four walls. And this entire Roshnibagh is also surrounded by four walls in which there are two entrances.
This garden is easily accessible by road and it’s a major attraction among the history buffs and architecture lovers as it houses the protected monument of national importance. It’s maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and there is no entry fee.
