Hey, Local Guides!
Hope we all are staying safe and healthy during this Pandemic period
I have been going through old photos and realised that I have so many photos of a Local Food in Cameroon called Burning-fish (pidgin-English, locally in CMR), roasted fish, poison brisée (French).
This food is basically fresh fish that is perfectly seasoned, spiced and then roasted/grilled and served with;
fried plantains (dodo),
cassava sticks (Bobolo/Miondo) which is called Manioc batons in french,
mayonnaise
Sauce pepper
This meal can be homemade or bought by the road as it is a very famous evening/night street food at bars or local joints in every Cameroonian city or village. You could use any kind of fish but at my house, my mom and grandma prefer the bar fish or horse mackerel.
What is roasted fish without pepper or small tasty source? is that one roasted fish sef!
I would like to know how this is called in Nigeria and also how you prefer to eat it? @UchechukwuEnem , @ChinonsoOnukwugha
@Hikma_F what about Ghana…
@Gloire_Congo , how do you call this in DRC and do you know the baton de manioc?
To you who is reading :), do you like grilled fish as much as I do? and how do you like it/cook it.

Yum! @Lily_Asongfac
So we cook with a lot of smoked fish too, for our stews and soups but there is also smoked fish that is eaten on it’s own, the most common is grilled tilapia with pepper and bank or atsieke (which is becoming common in Ghana). There is another type called shito loo…which is grilled spicy and eaten with banku. Do you know what banku is?

I love this @Lily_Asongfac !! We call it point-and-kill. Usually there’s a live tank and you select which fish you want, they kill the fish and roast the delicacy.

Have heard about point and kill before @ChinonsoOnukwugha . That’s actually the best because the fish is still fresh
