A few months ago, I was happy to reach a 300-day streak milestone on Road Mapper, which was a point of pride and a clear result of daily commitment.
My journey hit a small bump on the 320th day. I was in a different city and planned to be back in my room by 10:00 PM. I got stuck in a very long traffic jam and couldn’t get to my computer in time. Just like that, the counter went back to zero.
Lesson learned: I wasn’t too worried about it. I remembered reading stories from other Local Guides about their own experiences, and it reminded me why we do this. The counter might reset, but the work stays. The roads I draw remain there and stay useful to someone looking for their way. Helping people find their path is the real reward. That is the most important part. I didn’t wait around. I started again.
Happens to all of us @PrasadVR I screwed up last week and missed a day because my normal routine was out of kilter.
No Prob. we just start a new streak.
Really nice to see you are continuing the streak after a day’s gap, @PrasadVR ji
Sometimes conditions are beyond our control
Your passion and dedication show your love for this activity
Looking forward to your more amazing contributions to TRAC in the coming days…
This is a heartbreak we all learn to live with @PrasadVR. You may have seen the recent post by @JustJake, who’d reached over 400 before he lost his streak. Congrats on your 320 days. My longest streak was 178. I always crash out in the 170s somehow. I’m at 96 days now, and I expect to be away on an overseas trip in May. This time I don’t plan to try as hard as on previous trips to keep my streak going. So June will likely be another fresh start for me.
This is quite a natural, and even welcome step for passionate contributors. While maintaining a long streak is commendable, what truly matters is the dedication and intent behind helping users through meaningful contributions. That passion is what creates real impact.
At the same time, tools like Road Mapper do have their limitations. It’s primarily designed for ease of use on desktop, and while it can technically be accessed on mobile, the experience isn’t as seamless. In many cases, it ends up requiring a setup closer to a mini desktop, with external accessories, which takes away from the convenience of a handheld device.
That said, you have done a wonderful job, dear friend @PrasadVR, not just through your contributions, but also by inspiring the community with a powerful reminder: “Don’t Stop, Restart.”
Yes, as our dear @TerryPG says, re-start if feel it is worth… dear @PrasadVR
I have tried, with elderly people at home, we can’t guarantee any schedule.
Anyways, best wishes
