Adding Roads is a covetable achievement you can gain in Google Maps which helps millions in the coming days to centuries ahead.

How to start?

To learn ‘Adding Roads’, dedicate an hour or two per day for almost a week; you can start off within 6 to 8 hours. I recommend the following method:

Tip: Be patient; your scoring may start after a week or two. The approval rate will go up as you work with the drawing.

Where to start?
If you are new to “Road Drawing”, start with this‘Step-by-Step’ tutorial by @SholaIB . (a 30-minute guide).

However, I recommend you, carefully read this post by @ErmesT , repeatedly, so that you can startwith reasonable confidence. (Another 45-minute read).

Tip: Start drawing from an already existing road; also, you may draw roads in any country.

After drawing roads, you may get two types of Mails:

1. “Thank you for reporting a road network problem”
2. “Published: Your correction to the Google Road Networks”

Caption: The first mail indicates that I have added/reported 38 new roads & the third mail says that Google has published (Approved) 81 of my previously added roads.

What are the different statuses, after adding a road?

(These statuses will be available under your “Edits” Menu)

1. Approved (40%)
2. Pending (55%)
3. Not accepted (05%)(%s are approximate & it varies)

I think the Google team should admit that we haven’t seen this number of roads added on Google maps for a long time !!!

Not sure about which one of my several posts about adding roads you want to share. Maybe 3000+, and counting. My tips for adding roads in Google Maps ?

Adding road can be an exciting or a frustrating experience, so starting with the correct expectation is important. You need to pass over the three months of contributions, because that one is the moment when active contributors start to face with the rejection of the unmoderated Items. That moment is painful, if not correctly understood, so I think I will have to write a bit about that

Also, yes, you are right… Adding Roads can be exciting or frustrating.

However, I noticed that from 10th July, the approvals have dropped drastically in some parts of the world.

I along with many friends suffer because of the same.

Please do write about the unmoderated items & in advance, request you to kindly tag me in your post.

Of course, earlier my score rate was very high, but, recently it is severely reduced -

From 2 Roads to 120 & from there to 367 - It was not a quick jump… I used to add around 30 roads and I used to get around 10 approvals.

Nowadays, a couple of roads once in two or three days…

Just for your kind information.

A quick tip: when a road is rejected after 3 months feel free to submit the edit again.

Normally when I do this most of the roads are added in a few days.
