Hi everyone, its my first post so i would like to touch very interesting local topic, which is the risk of writing bad review about a place especially restaurants.
I have lived in LA for long time as well as i am living in Istanbul, so i will try to show the issue in an objective way by not sticking to the local norms.
First of all, in Turkey criticism or saying something bad about ones work is not acceptable because of our culture, so its the point where the problem actually began. So if you go to a good restaurant and if you dont like the food, you may hard times to express it to the management, as they will probably take it all personally and we can say in this point its a good development to have a system such as google maps which is open to everyone in terms of giving comments stars and review etc however it comes with its own problems and risks,
In country like Turkey always be aware of the fact that even small businesses are checking the reviews frequently. So if you dont like food or something in that business and would like to write a review or give a star always do it after you left that place. It may sound nonsense and unreasonable to you however if you are not in a restaurant in central area as well as not a big one, you may have a bad experience because of your review.
In central area its not going to happen dont worry but if you are in small local places especially really new to google maps, they think like if someone give 1 star to their business its like you are playing with one’s bread and butter, so there is cognizance gap in between which may take you in a difficult position,
And dont say that it is a situation imposible to face, if you are traveling all around the restaurants every part of İstanbul you may, and i have experienced it twice already, so always try to comments or give reviews after you left the place and it will be no problem,
