Reviews not showing (Miba)

Greetings! May I please have some help with my reviews not showing?

This is my fourth point of contact and I’m still unsure what I’m doing wrong. I need someone, anyone, to tell me what specifically it is. I’m at my wit’s end.

Thanks for your time!

Hello Mike, welcome to the Local Guides Connect community!
you said:

Where are the reviews not showing?
Did you check under My ContributionsReviews?
To do so, did you a Web browser on the desktop or the Maps app on a mobile device? If the latter, which version of the app, under Android or Apple device?
Or don’t you see them under the place listing where you posted them?

In order to be able provide some tips, it would be better to share a link, to the listing and a screen shot of you review. The screenshots you provided are not very helpful since they seem show only your conversation with Google support and are barely readable.

Hi @Miba do you have photos with the review?

When reviews get flagged and kept private so only you can see them it can be because of a few things
a) The text of the review itself
b) Maps thinking you’ve not experienced the place you reviewed
c) Something in attached photos triggers it

I find with mine it is usually something in a photo so I do not attach photos to my review, I add them seperately.

If you post the text of your review and a selection of any images here we can try and help you.

Thanks @WilfriedB! I’ve used Firefox Focus to check on my Google Pixel 7 Pro, the reviews are not showing on Google Maps, and here’s a link/screenshot >>>

Of note is the review was originally posted mid-March, not 4 days ago as noted in the link/screenshot. I’ve just been editing it in hopes something changes.

Many thanks @PaulPavlinovich! My post originally published with one image (attached). I then edited the post with an update and noticed it was no longer public. Now, no reviews I post on businesses are published.

Here’s the text from the review that seemed to start the issue at hand:

"EDIT: I’ve ended up pursuing a CRT decision to formally document the issue. No
resolution has been offered to date since reaching out to Associa in December. An apology straight away from the strata manager would’ve gone a long way.

Dec 23, 2024: Impossible to connect with our dedicated strata manager. We’ve been trying for 5 weeks now. After 4 emails, 3 points of contact, & 2 voicemails, suffice to say this company is poorly run."

Now this, regarding my reply to @WilfriedB, I believe:

Hello, Our automated spam filter, Akismet, has temporarily hidden your post in Reviews not showing (Miba) for review. A staff member will review your post soon, and it should appear shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I am sorry @Miba, this doesn’t look to me as a review, but rather a communication which should be directed only to the business instead of publishing it, I can understand that neither the business nor Google Maps wants to publish it.
What do you think @PaulPavlinovich ?

Thanks for the prompt feedback @WilfriedB. Could you clarify which part you would edit for the review? I want my experience posted, even if that means I have to remove a portion.

Hello. If you are requesting help from here, remove your Google Maps profile from privacy. If your comment was published along with the photo you added, it means there is no problem. If the post you posted is not published when you edit and resend it, it means that the comment is considered spam. I recommend that you do not edit your published comments again. If you need to edit the comment, if you make serious changes to the comment, the chances of being considered spam will be low. You can fill out the form for all unpublished comments.

Hi @Miba , welcome to Connect, the official Community of the Google Local Guides.
If I understood correctly you addressed your issue to:

  • Google Business Profile, that is managing the business side of Google Maps
  • The Google Maps Help Community, that is reserved to issue related to the Map

You also filled an appeal that should be used if you are suspended from the program, but as you are not suspended they cannot give you a different answer.

As far as you can see in your replies also one of your replies in this conversation was blocked by the filter. Did you added some link to a website in there?

Regarding your review, if you believe the review is not violating the Maps user-generated content policy - Maps User Generated Content Policy Help you can send an appeal, using the link shared by @Murat
However, your review update appears to be simply a dispute between you and the business. Reviews are not meant to resolve this type of dispute between customers and the business, in a communication that is directed directly to the business and not to other users.
So I highly doubt that if you appeal your review will be released.

At this time, since your contributions in Google Maps are not publicly visible, it is difficult to give other advice.
My suggestion is to remove the recently added part, and find channels other than reviews to resolve your dispute.

Thanks @Murat. The form looks familiar. I believe it’s the one that the Local Guide Appeals email responded to.

I’ve hopefully switched my account to public, thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the detailed guidance @ErmesT. It’s likely the edit that caused the issue. I’m just unsure why it’s causing other business reviews to not publish, if there’s no penalty/hold on my account.

I’ll remove the edit and hopefully the original post can be republished in due time. Thanks again for your help!

Well, this is an interesting point, @Miba
Do you mean that you are not able to post reviews, or that the reviews are made private (visible only to you)?
In fact I see that 3 of your reviews are not publicly visible. But what surprise me more is that some of your reviews is publicly visible, even if those reviews are a dispute with the business, one also with a screenshot of an email attached. I wonder why that review is visible, because it is against the rules and the principle of Google Maps abut the use of the reviews, as described above

You nailed it @ErmesT, my reviews aren’t showing publicly anymore. The only setting I’ve adjusted was the suggestion from @Murat, and that was just yesterday.

Thank you @Miba
Please be aware that the appeal may take several weeks (up to 8 in my personal case).
Please do not edit your reviews after submitting your appeal, otherwise your appeal will be deleted.
