I’m back, to Local Guides Connect, and returned to Tauranga after 26 years living in different towns in New Zealand, and 16 years living overseas.

I’m back to Local Guides Connect after being blocked out since January 2021, for a reason I still haven’t found out why. Since being blocked out, I’ve lived in Qatar, Czech Republic, England, and now New Zealand.

When I first arrived back in New Zealand after 16 years away, I lived in Auckland for 4 months, before returning to Taupo, where I lived prior to going overseas. I lived in Taupo for 12 months before returning to Tauranga. My wife and I have bought a 40,500 sq metre property surrounded in native bush, which has wild deer wandering around, and the birdlife is amazing. We have three sheep on the land to keep the grass under control.

We have been very active keeping ourselves fit by doing lots of walks, riding bikes, and other outdoor activities available throughout Tauranga and the surrounding area.

I’ll make some posts soon about Tauranga and the many activities and tourist sites available.

Welcome back @TheEagleEye and I have to say that it was the title of your post that caught my eye as Tauranga is not a name that one often sees. People often ask me is there a place in the world that I haven’t been too. Well of course there are many but I have to say that I have been to beautiful Tauranga and the nearby beach town Mount Maunganui and thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

A 40,500 sq metre property surrounded in native bush with wild deer wandering around, and amazing birdlife sounds idyllic.

Once again, welcome back!

Thanks for the reply @AdamGT with your comment and photos. I’m pleased you know Tauranga, being a well travelled guy yourself.

It is certainly a much more busy bustling metropolis now since I was here last.
