Does Google Maps ban some people for overly editing their city? I’ve made numerous edits and suggestions, but it seems that others can’t see reviews. The simplest of reviews without triggered spam words can’t be seen.

Also, I’ve tried to add a new location to my city, yet maps won’t add it because it can’t be verified. That’s because it’s just opening today. Why are we attempting to add businesses but being rejected for doing so?

Hello @The_Driver_Sensei

It’s your first post today so a welcome is the first things to say! You have done the right thing to ask here but nevertheless you’ll need to edit your post to the “how tos” category. To do that click on the three blue dots at the end of the page. Edit message, select theb"How tos" save message and you are fine.

Now regarding reviews, they could be marked private by Google Al if they violate the stated rules and regulations. They could also be hidden if it’s reported by anyone and the claim is approved.

Regarding edits, you mentioned yourself that the business has just opened today right? Please be patient, the claims and information submitted need to be verified. This article might interest you Why-is-my-edit-status-Pending-or-Not-Applied

Hi @The_Driver_Sensei

I can confirm from your public profile that you have added 71 reviews and none of them are public.

Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the guidelines, including:
Prohibited and Restricted Content
Format Specific Criteria (See under Text Reviews and Captions)

Read about typical review guideline violations here.

If you are on a Desktop use this link to Count your hidden contributions. From a mobile device use this link.

If you want to identify which of your reviews are hidden please see this post.

Currently, your issue might not be your fault. Please read Known issue: Unpublished reviews and photos on Google Maps. And, make a reply to request your account also be investigated.

Best of luck
Morten

PS You are proabably not aware of the following photo guidelines :

  • Don’t share night photos
  • Avoid all recognizable faces
  • Selfies and group photos should not be on Google Maps
  • Redundant photos should also be avoided

Following all the guidelines helps protect your account.

I get that Maps has a filter, but all 71 post? Some of them are literally short and down right to the point. They have none of the special characters or derogatory words or phrases. It seems like there’s really no answer. I’ve gone through the links that show you how to calculate and so forth. But, nothing is telling me why…just that Google said Nope to me and no one can figure it out.

Changed to ‘how-to’ and thanks for the clarification.

Your assumption is correct, @The_Driver_Sensei .

No one can tell you exactly what you did wrong. This is probably to ensure not helping the spammers so they can learn how to subvent the filters.

About 6 months ago Google started using the new sanction to hide all reviews and block all new reviews from a suspected Maps user. It has happened to more Local Guides.

By the way:

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

After reading every single link, it seems that the best option is to not deal with this and just delete all reviews and images.

Thanks for the help all.

Thanks for that extra bone @MortenCopenhagen

Hi @The_Driver_Sensei , I’m sorry about your issue.

I would like to add a note, on a conversation that already covered a lot of points.

I can’t see your reviews, but from your reviewer badge I can see that all of them are short. Obviously I can’t see how much short they are, but I would like to remind you that also very short and repeated reviews, like good, very good, and so on, are considered not appropriate, because not sharing a personal experience about the location.

@The_Driver_Sensei

I would try the last link I shared first. Maybe a manual check will help you out.

Cheers

hello @ErmesT ,

I have reviews that are over the 200 character mark. I have in-depth reviews that explains specific parts of a business. I don’t see how 71 reviews, in which some have a few hundred reviews, post as hidden. That’s extremely curious. Thanks a lot for the extra feedback.
