Restaurant Menu has old pricing

A restaurant menu has outdated pricing information and items. Where is this information being pulled from and how can this be updated?

Pricing can be update by the business Owner only. You can ask the business Owner to update the price in the Google My Business profile.

Below is a screen shot of the Google My Business section for the Menu. The business owner can add new items but has no way to correct the menu that is currently being displayed. He never added these items and prices in first place so this data must be pulled from somewhere else.

The only open the owner has is to add new items, but then he will have duplicate listings with different prices.

These has to be a way to either edit the old menu information or delete it and add the correct items and prices.

@TodorKrecu Hi!

If the business owner can’t see the existing menu list there it would be a bug or error on his account.

In this situation, the business owner should contact Google My Business Community for solving the issue as he/she is a verified business owner.

Other restaurants are having this same issue and no one has provided a solution:

Hello @TodorKrecu

As I understand, the prices displayed in Maps are not dynamic or not linked to any data source.
Wherever a business has claimed the place, the responsibility to update the price rests with the owner.
Further, when the owner publicizes a website, the expectation is to go through that.

Currently, there is no dine-in at this place. The prices for takeaway or delivery would be different as the business has to add packing & transportation cost.

Surprisingly, when I access “Place an order” and go through the pages of an on-line ordering portal through Maps, the prices are still different.

Thus, depending upon tye-ups, the business may charge different prices for the same menu.

The issue is that Google Maps does not allow a way for restaurants to edit outdated menu information that has been pulled from some external source: https://support.google.com/business/thread/37129192?hl=en

Hi @TodorKrecu

This forum is for the volunteer local guides while business owners have their own help pages and forum.

Here are the GMB help pages and you find the GMB forum here.

The interests as a business owner and a local guide should not be mixed since there can be conflicts of interest.

I’m sorry but you can’t expect to reach those rightfully responsible for the issue you are describing when you keep asking in the wrong forum. Local Guides Connect staff has no say over those responsible for Google My Business.

When it comes to categories the opersite seems to be the case.

Best of luck getting the help you need in the other fora.

Cheers
Morten

Hi @TodorKrecu ,

Thanks for reaching out! I see that fellow Local Guides have shared their knowledge with you.

I am marking @MortenCopenhagen 's reply as a solution to your question, so other Local Guides can refer to it. The purpose of this feature is to help Local Guides find answers when searching on the Connect. Please take a look at How do I mark comments as solutions? article.

Imagine strolling down the street, famished and ready to indulge, only to be hit with sticker shock when the prices don’t match the menu. It’s like the restaurant promised a night in Paris, but delivered a Tuesday night in Trenton.

For me, outdated menus scream “disorganization” and make me wonder if other corners are being cut. Who knows how long those wilted photos of food have been gracing the laminated landscape?

In a city like Sydney with a booming food scene, first impressions are crucial. Restaurant sydney need to be on top of their game, and that includes keeping menus current. Digital menus displayed on tablets seem like a savvy solution – easy to update, eco-friendly, and keeps the health department happy.
