Requesting help to update business information

Could someone help update information on a business? The phone number and address were both wrong, so I suggested the correct information. Now the phone number is completely missing, but the address is still wrong. We are attempting to prove ownership of the business, but until that happens people have the wrong address and more importantly the wrong phone number.

I thought if more local guides offered the same suggestion it might help speed up the process. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi. I do not know if you are a Local Guides or belong to the GMB program. At this moment I am looking at the heating business that you name in my Maps account, in relief form and in satellite form. Missing information such as phone number, website, there is no photo, no review and the option to claim the company is open. I do not know how long ago, you have tried to make these changes, but you should know that some take more time than others to be modified data and accepted by Maps. I think it would be good to wait for this data to be confirmed by Maps. There are many precautions to avoid spam and incorrect data. This is how you should collect data from other Local Guides, if necessary Street View, megadatos and more tools. Be patient. We belong to the Google program, so the information provided by another website that your appointments here, I do not think the best way to do it in Connect, I do not do that either, when I work in my Maps account. As Local Guides, if we are not in the place, POI or business, we should not corroborate data that other Local Guides suggest. Good luck.

@cflynn9 You had a detailed explanation from @LuaPL just to add as I see you are a local guide yourself. Have you tried to claim this business if you are the owner as it’s showing the claim this business is still open this one.

Also for quick responses please do tag some moderators in your posts so they know you are trying to contact them.

A local guide can only modify places that he knows personally. You can edit the business listing by yourself, following this procedure:

Suggest edits to a place

If you are the owner of the business, you can claim your business, (Add or claim your business listing) and edit it: Edit your business listing on Google

If you need more information, please tag a moderator from this list

Thanks for your question. The best thing to do is to report the wrong information (phone, address etc.) about this business by suggestion an edit. Another thing is that the business itself can claim their office on Google Maps and update the wrong information by themselves.

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for your help, it is great to see so many helpful responses.

I am a local guide, but very new and uneducated.

We have tried to claim the business, but since the phone number is wrong Google does not accept the claim. I believe we are waiting a post card to arrive at the wrong location. It is very hard to claim a business with wrong information.

I’ve submitted the suggestions, but they have been in pending for some time now. Since this is a business that depends on customers we are trying everything we can to get the correct information to everyone as quickly as possible.

If there are more tips or suggestions on how to claim a business with incorrect information or how to get the correct information up on Google as quickly as possible that would be great.

Thanks for your reply and for your confirmation you are a business owner. I would like to let you know that you are not allowed to participate in the Local Guides program as a business owner, only as an individual.

I would like to kindly redirect you to post your questions for claiming or verifying your business and receiving your business card in the Google My Business community.

OK, thank you for the help.

I submitted a request for support from the Google Business support team, but have not heard anything yet. That is why I ended up here too. Everything I try is not having much success. Google is certainly not making this easy or even easily understood.

I really appreciate the help and will try the links you provide, but I feel like I’ve already tried this avenue before.

Thanks again for the help, but I didn’t find any info that was helpful for this particular situation. The only thing I did find out is that Google support has a severe backlog and the wait is around 3 to 4 weeks before getting any possible attention on a support ticket.

And one point of clarification, I am not the business owner, I am IT support for the owner.

@cflynn9 You are on the right track now and at least you got some direct response from Google moderators. All you need to do is follow the steps outlined and see how it goes. You can always come back with the results to see if your problems are resolved. Thats why this community is unique and its improving everyday through these interactions as problems are looked into grom a practical point and come up with a solution.
