I am reaching out for assistance in correcting a route on Google Maps, specifically concerning directions from Dominical (Puntarenas, Costa Rica) to Costa Verde Estates.
Currently, the directions suggest a turn-off at the following coordinates, which I find to be less intuitive:
Bad Turn-off Coordinates (Poza Azul Road):
9.230165,-83.838945
While the route from Uvita to Costa Verde is accurate, the navigation from Dominical is not ideal. Google Maps directs users to turn onto Poza Azul Road, whereas it would be preferable to continue along the Costanera Sur/Ruta Nacional Primaria 34 for another 4.8kms, and turn onto Escaleras Road. This latter option provides a simpler and more direct route, and it is almost opposite Cuna Del Ángel.
I would appreciate it if some could do this for me, as I do not own a desktop. It can be frustrating to have to instruct others to disregard Google Maps’ directions.
Thank you for the information @Bridgitte
Google Maps is calculating the navigation based on the information they are acquiring live during the navigation, based on length of the travel and traffic on the roads.
Being users of Google Maps we have the possibility to improve it in several ways.
The best one is to send a feedback directly at the end of the trip, when Google is asking us our level of satisfaction about it.
If we make a deviation from the suggested route, Google will ask us why we changed it.
This kind of feedbacks are helping maps to improve the algorithm for the calculation of the route.
And you can also send a feedback later, by following the story indicated here: How to send us feedback in Google Maps - Computer - Google Maps Help
As the calculation is “dynamic” our feedback is the only way to improve the navigation, unless there are wrong information about the roads (e.g. a one way street identified as a two ways).
In such case please let us know in details where the issue is, to provide you with more specific information about how to fix it.
