This data is interesting. I have made a concerted effort to add/correct roads in my area (Wales/UK). Up until 27 Nov, I had 3.5k+ approved added roads, starting in early October. In the last 3 days I have not had one approved road email from GM, despite adding 100+ roads each day.
From my perspective, it appears like GM are changing how road edits are reviewed and approved. Are they switching to a 100% AI approach?
Given the hiatus in road approvals, I have stopped adding roads for now. I have been a L10 LG for some time, so am not concerned about accumulating points. My main motivation has been trying to improve GM footpath data, which is quite poor in my area.
If the current situation is not resolved, it does not bode well for TRAC 2026.
One final point, how do I sign up for Road Mapper?
Thank you @PrasadVR I read some of your articles and I tested the option and realized that Cambodia has no option to edit roads. When I tested on Thailand, it allowed me to do so.
Thank you my dear @Annaelisa I already tried both the desktop and mobile phone and it worked. It is just that Cambodia has no option to edit road that I couldnât do it. In other countries, I could do all fine.
Thanks for your comment. There isnât any way to sign up. To gain access to the site, youâll need to contact the Road Mapper team. We made it simpler by collecting data from interested local guides and forwarding the information to the team.
Please read here All you need to know about TORM!!!. Please fill out the form in that article. We will plan to forward it to the team when there is an x number of Local guides requesting for access.
We have gone 2 batches of access already so itâs not likely that we will do anymore this year. Anyway fingers crossed sometime next year.
Regarding roads on Google maps, we need a meet-up sometime before the end of this year.
Topic:Way forward on Road approvals on Google maps
In my opinion, drawing roads in Google Maps is currently a waste of time. Admittedly, I donât draw as many roads as you do, but my acceptance rates are just as disappointing as yoursâand it doesnât matter whether I add roads near me or in locations hundreds of kilometers away.
This is the complete opposite of drawing roads in Road Mapper, whereâlike most people, I thinkâI have an acceptance rate of almost 100%, and I wait no longer than a day for acceptance (with minor exceptions).
I know it has been particularly bad in recent weeks @new.user, but Iâm not ready to give up yet. Today has been a record so far since some signs of improvement began to appear - 15 approval emails already, and the time is only 11:35 am.
No, what I understood is that the Google doesnât have option where you can edit roads in Cambodia at the meantime. However, roads that are along the border or very close to the border of Thailand and Vietnam, I could edit. Laos and Cambodia have no road edit option, meaning wherever you are, you canât edit roads in Cambodia and Laos.
I used to be frustrated and angry but now I donât.
I donât care if they approve it or not !
I donât care if I get points or not ! I am already on level 10!
I donât care about level badges or anything. I care about roads! Roads should be added!
There is no relationship between us and google they donât advise us they donât guide us they donât tell us why they reject it. its just our explanation and notes about approval behavior.
This the relation ship and I accept it.
I will keep adding roads whenever I have the time to my country and the world and one day some of them will get approved and I will keep adding to the last breath EnSha Allah âby God Willâ.
Hello @SholaIB , Currently, the road approval process is not encouraging. I have not received any road approval emails for the last week, even though I am adding roads regularly.
I agree that a meet-up would be helpful. Please count me in.
That is strange @PrasadVR. Iâm seeing a gradual improvement recently. The last two weeks have seen more days with approval emails, and in the last one week, the number of emails per day has increased, with today being an exceptionally high number so far.
Does anyone know how the approval cycle runs? Is it that the Maps employees examine roads in different countries on different days, or do they examine the work of different batches of LGs on different days. Iâm trying to understand how I sometimes have many days with no approvals, now itâs most days with a larger number of approvals. Also trying to understand why someone would have zero approvals in the same week that I have an increase in approvals. Maybe @ErmesT or @MortenCopenhagen could answer this?
One way to accelerate your points collection could be to post your photos as updates from visitors. If you can somehow come up with a relevant short sentence about each of the places this would give you 5 points per pic + 10 points per text caption.
5083 divided by 15 points is âonlyâ 340 updates before New years Eve = 10-11 caption updates per day.
It sounds doable, donât you think?
I have seen updates where the LG just repeat the place name or category as if that is a helpful contribution. Or just describe the content of their photo. Or add the same text across multiple photos. Donât do any of that. Make sure to only post helpful and relevant text captions.
Iâll certainly give it a try, but it has to be real. I already posted some of my photos that way, but I guess I need to make it all my photos. Iâve generally avoided the temptation to madly post excessive stuff just to get points. If I miss December 31st, I know Iâll be Level 10 somewhere within the first few weeks of the new year.
If I achieve half of what you suggest, letâs hope the Road situation improves enough to take care of the other half.
Seems like everyone is facing this issue, @PrasadVR & @SholaIB ,Iâve received only 6 approvals in the last 3 days, and less than 30 approvals in total over the past week. Even though I have been consistent with adding a specific number of roads everydayâŠ
