Mountains are one of the most attractive places for travelers and adventure lovers. Sometimes these mountains are covered in snow, and sometimes they are covered in dense greenery. The natural beauty of the mountains makes them a very attractive destination for travelers. Today is the day of this mountain; because today, December 11, is International Mountain Day.
This year International Mountain Day 2024 (IMD 2024) focuses precisely on the capacity and needs of its people through a triple approach: Mountain solutions for a sustainable future â innovation, adaptation and youth. Source : here
On International Mountain Day, I am mentioning the memory of the mountain I climbed in Bangladesh.
Among the mountain ranges in Bangladesh, the following three are notable.
1) Chimbuk Mountain Range: The peaks of the Chimbuk Mountain Range in Bandarban are Kirstang and Rungrangtang. Kirstang has a height of about 2,989 feet. A survey by World Atlas has shown that Kirstang is the tenth highest mountain in Bangladesh. Rungrang is only 300 feet smaller than Kirstang. The two mountains located side by side are ideal for trekking.
2) Madak Mountain Range: Saka Hafong (3488/3461 feet) located in the Madak Range on the Bangladesh-Burma border is considered the highest point in the country. This mountain is also known as Madak Tang, Klangmoy, Tlangmoy, Border Hum, etc. Jo Tlang/Modak Mual (3353 ft), Ayang Tlang (3314 ft), Dumlang (3314 ft), Yogi Hafong (3251 ft).
3) Saichal Mountain Range: Tajingdong is a mountain range in Bangladesh. Officially, it is recognized as the highest mountain in Bangladesh. It is located in the Saichal Range of Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District in southeastern Bangladesh. Although the official height of Tajingdong Mountain is 4198.40 ft, its actual height is 790 meters.
Photo No. 1: Keokradong was my first mountain climb. (Dated: October 8, 2022)
Keokradong is located in the Bandarban district of southeastern Bangladesh. It was once considered the highest mountain peak in Bangladesh, with an elevation of 986 metres (3,235 ft).
Photo No. 2: I am standing in front of the Chandranath Temple located on top of Chandranath Hill. (Dated: December 16, 2022)
Chandranath Temple, located on Chandranath Hill in the northeast of Chittagong, Bangladesh, is one of the most famous Shaktipeeths. Chittagong is a haven of unparalleled natural beauty. Chandranath Temple is located on the highest hill here. The highest peak of Chandranath Hill is about 1020 feet. To reach the highest peak of Chandranath Hill, you have to cross many inaccessible paths and stairs. The road is entirely a hilly path. Apart from that, there are some broken stairs. It is easier to go up through the left path and it is easier to go down through the right path. You will see one scene after another as you reach the top of the hill. Once you reach it, you will see the natural beauty of nature.
Photo No. 3: I am at Tajingdong, the highest mountain peak in Bangladesh. (Dated: February 24, 2023)
According to official estimates, Tajingdong is the highest mountain in the country, standing at 4,198 feet (1,280 meters) tall. This natural wonder is the highest peak in Bangladesh. From the highest peak to the lower mountain gorges, the Jumkhet, the hilly neighborhoods captured within sightâeverything seems insignificant. Standing on the peak, it only seemed like, âMountains can never be conquered, they have to be bowed down in respect.â The peak of Tajingdong, the mountains leaning against the distant sky and the group of clouds, seemed like a new dream would be grasped as soon as you crossed this vast forest land.
Photo 4 : Behind me is Dotang Mountain. (Dated: February 23, 2023)
To get to Tajingdong Mountain, you have to pass by Dotang Mountain.
Mountains are of immense importance not only for their beauty, but also for maintaining the balance of the natural environment and improving the quality of life. I pay tribute to those who have lost their lives throughout the ages during dangerous and inaccessible mountaineering expeditions.
