I really like to discover the unknown and share the information with other people. Google maps is a great tool in this matter, I have been convinced of this more than once. We have known each other for many years and I have repeatedly recommended this wonderful service to friends and acquaintances.
With the help of satellite images of the surroundings, I found many hidden at first glance, but extremely interesting to visit objects – narrow gauge railways, dilapidated temples, almost disappeared settlements and objects of history.
Once upon a time I came across amazing structures located on the small rivers of our region. When visiting them, it turned out that these were the remains of the Soviet era, abandoned hydroelectric power stations that fed nearby collective farms and villages.
I was so amazed at what I saw that I decided not to limit myself to photographing, but to make a full-fledged video, which became very popular on my YouTube channel. Along the way, I added the missing places to Google maps, providing them with photos and reviews.
A lot of people got in touch with me to thank for the work done and ask clarifying questions regarding the locations and the suitability of these places to visit. The story was so interested in the public that several media published a link to it, the local city newspaper devoted to this a whole U-turn and the TV channel “Science 2.0” posted it in their publics on social networks.
Of course, I do not plan to stop there. I am a man of action, eager for new discoveries and moving only forward. This year I got a driver’s license and plan to purchase an off-road car, which will allow me to open up inaccessible until now places and I will continue to share information about that with other people with pleasure.
