After visiting Amsterdam several times, I saw so many secret and unique places you hardly find on the internet! But they, on a par with main sightseeings everyone knows about, help to create the full picture of the place, show it from different sides, complement your experience with the local color and casual details, and all those little things forming everyday lives of local inhabitants.
As a Local Guide, I’m happy to take many pictures of those secret places and share them to the world bringing it closer to people who cannot visit it in person, and helping future tourists to enrich and diversify their travel experience.
One of the places I love in Amsterdam is the Lindengracht market. The first time I visited it I was amazed by the wide variety of sea and river animals prepared and ready to be tasted by us. The delicious smell of dried, pickled, salty, fried and baked fish product leaves no one indifferent. While visiting this place you definitely make a choice and enjoy another delicacy, leaving in your memory a bookmark about this taste forever. On a regular disposable plate, you find a pile of crispy pickled cucumbers sliced in rings on one side, a handful of juicy and sweet onions - on the other, and a delicate boneless fillet of herring cut into pieces - right in the middle. And the seller patriotically sticks the miniature flag of his country into this delicious and oily fillet. Do not try to compare this fish with what you ate in your own country or elsewhere. The taste of Dutch herring is truly unique. Feeling of maximum freshness and harmonious combination of simple products fills you with a sense of satiety with excellent food. Fresh mix of spinach and pineapple juices completes our breakfast with festive fireworks of joy and good mood for the rest of the day.
Inviting everybody to create your own impression of Amsterdam secret treats!
