What is Valluvar kottam?

Valluvar Kottam is a historical monument built by the Government of Tamil Nadu in Chennai for the commemoration of classical Tamil poet and Philosopher namely “Thiruvalluvar” during the year 1970 to 1976.

Who isThiruvalluvar”?

The Octagonal sanctum of Thiruvalluvar is located at a height of 30 feet. The statue is 7 feet height. The three fingers points to three divisions of his Thirukkural which teaches the Morality, Materialism and Happiness for the human beings.

What is Thirukkural?

It is a Tamil verses of 133 chapters, each 2 lines of which first line is 4 word’s and the other line is 3 word’s totally 7 word’s.

Stone Car/ Chariot.

Two stone Elephants, each 7 feet tall are infront of the Chariot, as they are pulling the huge Chariot, height of 106 feet.

This Chariot is flanked on either side with 4 wheels two big and 2 small. The 4 bigger gaint wheels are 11.25 feet in diameter and 2.5 feet thickness and have been chiselled out of solid block of stone.

Intricate sculpturing marks the many levels in this Chariot. These sculpturing depicts some of the meanings of the Thirukkural.

Very dear & Loving @Selvamani_R ,

Simply fantastic!!! Hats off to you dear friend!!!

Your first Meet up is so matured and your recap is even more matured!

My personal NOTES:

First of all, the post is well thought & well prepared one - honestly, I have rarely seen such compact, but full recaps - sincerely admire your capabilities, grate dear friend!

I really feel bad that I missed this event!

Thiruvalluvar Kottam (Kottam = Fort?, Am I right, LGs?), Thiru Valluvar, THIRUKKURAL, Ratham (Chariot), Asia’s Largest Auditorium, etc. Like a student, I have learnt… Simple & well framed sentences.

Even the photos are very relevant & well shot + placed in the post appropriately.

And, the post is well concluded with the statement “Came empty handed, but returning with full Heart!”.

Very sincere efforts and the result is a blessed & successful meet-up!

All the best… Hope to see many more meet ups from your end -God willingly, I shall try to join you all…

My special regards are for other, loving LGs, who participated & made the event a grand success! Cheers to you all… dear ones… MohanVee @MohanVee, , Saravanakanth @Saravanakanth Aravind G @aravind_995 , Arun Prasanth @arunprasanth_d , SundaraVathanan , Jose G Benjamin @Jose_G_Benjamin , Bass G Baranabas.

Wish you all, all the very best!
