Panchalankurichi - Kattabomman Fort
Panchalankurichi was ruled during 18th century A.D. by poligars of Kattabommu family . The great hero Veerapandiya Kattabomman ruled this region as the fourth ruler . The port was demolished during 1786 A.D. by colonel Bullorton . Then it was reconstructed by Veerapandiya Kattabomman.
But again Major Bannerman attacked Panchalankurichi and demolished the fort during 1799 A.D. this fort was again erected by Umaithurai , younger brother of Veerapandiya Kattabomman with clay and jaggery juice within 6 days . Colonel macaulay finally destroyed this fort

@RtnArulPrakasamT There is so much value in visiting heritage places in small towns. Good to get to know this place. And good to know a bit of the history of the place also.
Just sharing the Google Maps location for other readers who are keen to visit: https://goo.gl/maps/qcbEunytNUJA49a78
It would be nice to see at least a photo of the participants directly in the post because we want to celebrate members who come together. I saw at least some photos in the album which are great to be on the post itself
Keep up the good work celebrating local places.
