The Lagos Kayak Photo Walk meet-up was initially scheduled for Saturday, 12 October 2019 but couldn’t hold on that day due to a heavy downpour - which started very early in the morning and continued throughout most part of afternoon. However, the meet-up was rescheduled to Saturday, 19 October 2019 and the weather was so favorable this time.
Prior to kicking off our Kayak adventure, we had a Safety Instructor who did a good job of allaying every form of fear that are usually associated with such adventure - especially for first timers. There after we got kitted up in our life jacket and started paddling on Lagos waterways. Barely 3 minutes on the water, I observed that severally Local Guides who were in attendance and were afraid initially started enjoying paddling - effortlessly.
Thank you @SanyaOdare for organizing this meetup. It was a very surreal experience for me, having my first kayak session ever. I conquered my fears of high waters lol! This was an adventure I would love to do over again. Beautiful recap too!
Awwww… you’re most welcome @Mayford ! I’m glad Lagos Kayak Photo Walk meet-up affords you a lifetime opportunity to conquer your fears of high waters. LOL!!! Let’s hope we have another kayak pretty soon.
Thank you for sharing your recap with us @SanyaOdare . It’s good that you haven’t given up and rescheduled the Meet-up, which is by far a different one!
I appreciate your kind words @VasT , Yes, it was my first time Kayaking and I love every moment spent at it - last Saturday. My being able to swim cast out fear of being on or inside water - unlike @Mayford . LOL!!!
My only issue for Kayaking was the directions. When you want to move to the left you need to row from the right side and the opposite. Really hard for me to achieve :).
Haha! It was very frightening at first as I was literally shaking due to aquaphobia @VasT , but a few metres from the shore, my confidence level shot up to 100%. Within a short while, I was already an expert kayaking. I can’t wait to do this again. Lol
I knew this was going to be a whole lot of fun. So glad I didn’t miss out on this beautiful experience. It was my first time Kayaking also but in just a few minutes, I was already rowing away like an expert. Thanks @SanyaOdare for putting this together.
I totally agree with you @VasT that Kayaking can seem quite hard for anyone attempting it for the very first time. It becomes a lot easier with practice.
