RECAP : INDONESIA 🇮🇩 LOCAL GUIDES FESTIVAL 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has changed many things in life and is well felt by all peoples, including Local Guides who usually hold meetings such as meet in real life, now must be replaced by virtual means. So, how do we keep local guides excited about the unusual days of this pandemic? One of the things that Local Guides can do to stay enthusiastic about living the days at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, including maintaining communication between fellow local guides through virtual meet-up, for example by exchanging photos, asking each other the news, exchanging stories, and so on through online applications.

That is why, how to unite all local guides in one place, then the idea emerged to create an event by bringing together all local guides in the Indonesia Local Guides Festival 2020.

This event lasted for 2 days in a row, and was warmly welcomed by Indonesian Local Guides who participated in this event. A lot of exciting activities for 2 days, including sharing sessions about the Role of Local Guides in helping Google Maps and building Communities, Accessibility Mapping on Google Maps, Street View, 360 Photos, supporting local businesses and brainstorming with local guides.

• (14:10-15:10) Local Guides Connect with Indonesian Connect Moderators
• (15:10-16:10) Accessibility Mapping - What you need to know

Day 2 - Sunday****20 Desember 2020

• (13:00-14:00) Pakai Google Maps kok Nyasar?
• (14:00-15:00) Supporting Local Businesses- Empowering the communities and Learning the Tips & Tricks
• (15:00-16:00) Warung Kopi - Ngobrol, Curcol asyik bareng Local Guides (Brainstorming)
• (16:00-16:15) Closing

On the first day, we also invited a representative from Google Indonesia, Feliciana Wienathan. She is happy to meet with Local Guides Indonesia and hopes that the local guides will remain enthusiastic and continue to contributing on google maps. On this occasion, we also met with Connect Moderators @iyudhi @NunungAfuah @Nyainurjanah @Velvel and Guiding Star 2020 @indahnuria @Ddimitra @doc_dells . We had a lot of discussion about the role of local guides in contributing to Google Maps.

Also, I would like to say thank you @StephenAbraham for join us in our event. Its such an honor to having you.

The enthusiasm of friends was very high for this event. The purpose of this event is to build strengthening the relationship between fellow local guides also added new friends, insights and knowledge. It’s incomplete if every virtual event meeting without a quiz . Its not the main goal of the gift, but just to entertain and make the atmosphere lively and not monotonous. Overall I really appreciate all my friends from Indonesia Local Guides who really supported this event from beginning to end. Hopefully the friendship among the local guides will be maintained and harmonious.

Hi @Radjasitanggang , firstly, thanks for having me to join the meet up. I am glad to see how excited Indonesian community to talk about their passion of doing contribution on GMaps and Connect. As Connect Moderator, I am so excited to hear the questions about how to contribute on connect and build the awareness of the community to do so. I remember it’s been 3 years ago when I felt the moment of having a fun discussion about Indonesia Local Guides. Thanks for the team who makes me feel the same energy as before. Ini event pertama yang kuikuti. Kesan saya: panitianya keren, acara rapi terorganisir dengan baik. Banyak ilmu daging yang bisa kita dapatkan di acara ini. Semua pembicara berkelas dan expert di bidangnya masing2.

Ke depan moga secara rutin bisa terselenggara lagi, bahas tema lanjutan tentunya, misal ‘local case’ di suatu daerah dan juga bagaimana menginspirasi agar local guide di berbagai daerah juga mengkonsolidasikan diri.
