Recap: [In-Person] Sri Lanka, April 11, Meet & Greet : Sharing Experience

Hello Guides. First of all thank you to everyone. Your support and guidance lifts my confidence and lead me to this success.

Special Thanks for
Dear @TusharSuradkar Sir
Dear @TravellerG Sir
For your unlimited guidance. Even in the mid of the night, Tushar Sir clears my doubts :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This meetup is planned many days ago. With the idea and help of our community’s OG @AnuradhaP .

In the beginning i don’t have any idea about the location where the meetup to be conducted . After a long research i pick the hotspot location of south costal Colombo, Wellawatte.
The beach and the costal railway station are the iconic places to visit in this city. And this location is very special for seeing sunset.

15 Participants showed there interest in joining this meetup. But one person is so hype about this meetup and he is my friend @ISU99 (Isura).
Unfortunately he had issues on travelling to the location.
Also @Nilupul had extreme fever.

This meetup happend so happily and wonderfully. In this meetup there was only two participants joined. One is me and the other one is Nature.
Yes it was a SOLO Meetup .

As I already mentioned above, Some of the participants told there issues on attending the meetup.
In my opinion..
This month is known as the festival month on Sri Lanka. Because of Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Many people gose to their home town to celebrate it. And also, the government announced long holidays for staffs there is only a few buses in roads on that time.
So I think this is the major reason why many absence in this meetup.

However I clicked some cool pictures of the railway and the beach. [If the quality of these photos are bad, I’m very sorry my camera is repaired. So I took this with my phone camera]

The photos above is the station and the beach near that station.

I’ll post a detailed information and history of this railway station and the line in the next post.
Sorry for uploading the recap so late. Because of festival celebrations and works based on it , took my whole time :slightly_smiling_face:. Hope you guys understand:heart:.
Thanks a lot..

The choice of location is amazing, dear @praveenkumar2022
Coastal railways are rare and a dream trip in many countries.

The photos are amazing, especially deserted streets and places are a great opportunity to take the perfect photos. I often simply wait for the right moment to take a clean shot.

It is not unusual for people to show interest and then not show up for a meetup.
I enjoy solo meetups equally.

Let’s remember to walk alone without caring for others:

Thankyou @TusharSuradkar sir. You are correct sir. These costal railways lines are very beautiful in the evenings. In Sri Lanka we can see costal railways the most. I too love solo meetup sir. But this is my first time. Sorry for late reply because I was unable to use the internet.

Hello :waving_hand: @praveenkumar2022 your photos are good. Would just have one maybe 2 suggestions for you:

  1. don’t keep expectations as it’s not always people will turn up in the meet up but just be hopeful.
  2. always tag the Google maps location in the hyperlink and also describe a little about the place in the recap like when was the place commissioned, how many staff works there, what are the train timings, when is the best reason to visit.

Rest we understand people can fall I’ll and get distracted from the meet-up due to number of reasons. If you are solo at the time of the meet-up just share your experience and guidance about the place from your point of view.
Your photos are good and keep contributing

Thankyou very much @ShreyaMusings ma’am. I’ll implement your suggestions in my upcoming meetups. I saw in many LG’s recap. They mentioned many things about the place the meetup held. But I thought to upload a unique, separate post about the costal railways in Sri Lanka, so it will more helpful for the readers. however you are correct i mentioned a very little information about the spot. thankyou for guiding me .
