Hello Local Guides,
Right now, Muslims around the world have completed the first 10 days of Ramadan, and we still have the remaining blessed days to embrace.
Keeping this in mind, we thought of arranging a fantastic iftar gathering where Local Guides from Karachi and its surrounding areas could meet and connect.
During the planning, we came across an iftar dinner event for motorcyclists, many of whom are also YouTubers, being organized by Local Guide @syedsohaib . The event was scheduled for the same date we had in mind. So, what could be a better opportunity? We decided to merge our meetup with their event, making the most of the chance to interact with countless attendees.
This event was set to take place near Manora Beach, one of Karachiâs famous coastal areas, which stretches from India to Iran. Manora Beach has unique features that deserve a separate post, which I will write in the coming days. Google Maps Review about Manora Beach Karachi
The event was scheduled for 5 PM, so we spent some time at Manora Beach Park before heading to the main venue. Interestingly, this was my first visit to this beautiful island in almost 35 years, as I never got the chance to explore it before.
I am truly grateful to @Swalay Rizwan Shah @DrFoodieOfficial , @vaqaskhurshid , and @muhammad_ilyas for joining me in this meetup. A special thanks to Local Guides @muhammad_ilyas and @syedsohaib for allowing us to merge with their event.
The eventâs arrangements at Seagull Beach Hut were beautiful and stylish, featuring colorful cushions, elegant lighting, and a well-maintained hut. The cool ocean breeze from the Arabian Sea added to the wonderful atmosphere. My Google Maps review about Seagull Beach Hut
As soon as the Maghrib Azan was called, the iftar began, with a spread of fresh fruits and Rooh Afza. After a short break for Maghrib prayers, we enjoyed a delicious dinner, which included Chicken Chandan Kabab (barbecue), paratha, and halwa, a meal that we all thoroughly enjoyed.

After the iftar and dinner, we had the chance to meet and engage in long discussions with attendees from different areas. Most of them were Google Maps users, and we took the opportunity to educate them on how they could contribute by adding Google Maps reviews, photos, and new businesses. The response was overwhelming, and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that many of these bike riders were already Google Maps contributors, with some at Level 5 and others at Level 8.
However, they admitted that they did not know the correct way to contribute effectively. This gathering helped them understand how to make meaningful contributions to Google Maps.
The most important takeaway from this meetup was that these bike travelers, who explore the entire country on their motorcycles, could now use Google Maps for navigation while also helping millions of people through their contributions.
This was exactly the reason why we traveled 40 kilometers to attend this event. In the end, we felt an immense sense of happiness and pride in being part of the Local Guides community, a community that enables us to guide and educate new contributors, just like a mentor.
