[RECAP] Ibadan Monthly Meetup: A Rainy Evening of Scrabble, Dance, and Deep Conversations ![]()
![]()
Hello Local Guides community
Keeping true to our resolution from our last gathering at Agodi Gardens to meet every single month, the Ibadan Local Guides successfully hosted our next meetup at 365 Lounge in Hybrid Height. While the weather tried to change our plans, it only made the evening more intimate, memorable, and full of great vibes.
Here is how our rainy Sunday turned into an incredible night of connection.
Highlights of the Day
1. A Late Start & Cozy Atmosphere
The afternoon kicked off with heavy rain across Ibadan, which meant we had to delay our start time. But as the rain cleared up in the evening, the city cooled down, and we gathered at Hybrid Height by 4:00 PM in a beautifully relaxed, cozy atmosphere.
2. Mapping Tips & Maximizing Points
Even with the rain, we didn’t lose sight of our mapping goals. We sat down together and shared valuable insider tips on:
-
Adding Missing Places: Best practices for suggesting new points of interest on the map accurately.
-
Photo Updates for Point Gains: How to systematically update place photos to maximize contribution points while ensuring the images provide the highest utility for users.
3. Scrabble, Snacks, and Good Food
Though we had a very intimate group for this monthly edition—with only 3 Local Guides in attendance—the small number made our bonding even stronger.
We spent the evening gathered around, playing intense rounds of Scrabble, laughing, catching up on life, and sharing delicious food.
4. Dancing into the Night
As evening turned into night, Hybrid Height came alive with music. We wrapped up our monthly meetup by hitting the floor and dancing to a fantastic live band, celebrating the close of a great weekend and keeping the Ibadan community spirit bubbling
Beyond the Map: Governance & Civic Engagement
Sitting together, our conversations naturally flowed into meaningful discussions about our roles as active citizens. We did a deep dive into:
-
Governance & Civic Engagement: Discussing how structural planning, youth engagement, and civic responsibility directly impact the growth and development of Ibadan.
-
Connectivity: Brainstorming how we can continue to map local spaces effectively to support businesses in our community. We added the 365 Lounge to Google map as our way of supporting the business has giving it more visibility.

Next Month’s Resolution
Our resolution to meet at least once a month stands firm. This intimate meetup proved that you don’t need a massive crowd to have a high-impact, deeply connecting experience. We are already looking forward to next month’s location.
Over to You
