Hello Local Guides!
Today, January 24, 2026, marks a special day. I am thrilled to have completed the meet-up “Explore Pasuruan: Madinah Van Java, Train Trip Experience & Photo Walk”.
This event is organized as part of the global celebration wave Join the Global Wave Celebrate 11 Years of Local Guides & 10 Years of Connect initiated by @NareshDarji & @KashifMisidia
Affordable Trip with Premium Facilities Our journey began at 07:37 AM from Wonokromo Station heading to Pasuruan Station. We used the Commuter Line Supas public transport for an incredibly affordable fare of only IDR 6,000 (approx. $0.40 USD)!
Despite the low price, the facilities were excellent.
This economy train is equipped with cold AC, accessible toilets, comfortable seats, and priority seating (for pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities).
The stations we passed are now neat, clean, and highly attentive to accessibility, featuring wheelchair ramps and guiding blocks. Public transport between Surabaya and Pasuruan is becoming increasingly popular, and I can see why.
Quality Over Quantity: Appreciation for Attendees
This meet-up was attended by 3 people: myself @ISAIKBALULSURUR ,@Andhyka and @suryabezum Honestly, even with a small number of participants, the sense of togetherness was very real. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Mas Surya and Mas Andhyka for taking the time out of their busy schedules. Your participation meant a lot and made this trip feel warm and enjoyable.
From 1 Plan to 8 Destinations We arrived in Pasuruan at 09:08 AM. Initially, our plan was to visit just one location. However, since we had a 6 hour window and the city turned out to be very walkable, we ended up exploring 8 locations in that time!
We were amazed by the layout of this small city. The sidewalks are proper, aesthetic, neat, clean, and equipped with guiding blocks. Here is our footprint:
- Wisata Payung Madinah Pasuruan (The city’s beautiful icon)
-
Depot Sederhana (Enjoying the legendary local culinary dish of this city “Rawon Sate Komoh“).
-
Taman Kota Pasuruan (Photo hunting & accessibility audit)
- Taman Makam Pahlawan (Photo hunting)
- Pasuruan Lama , Gedung Harmonie (An aesthetic historic landmark)
- Masjid Agung Al-Anwar Kota Pasuruan (Rest and Dhuhr prayer)
-
-
Closed with a relaxing break at Momoyo Pasuruan while waiting for the train home.
Why Pasuruan? Friends might ask, why did I choose Pasuruan? I have a personal mission to explore satellite cities that are often forgotten. Previously, I have explored Gresik, Lawang, Sidoarjo and Surabaya
Although close to the Greater Surabaya area, Pasuruan City is often missed from the exploration radar. In fact, this city has beautified itself with excellent public facilities and unique icons. Pasuruan has tremendous potential (history, culture, culinary, and religious tourism) as well as easy and inclusive transport access.
This choice was also based on the enthusiasm of friends when I wrote about Warisan Kuliner Pasuruan: Rawon Sate Komoh & Limun Linggardjati 1948 dalam Kisah Rasa yang Menolak Punah for the Community Spotlight 2025 initiated by @AdrianLunsong Many commented and wanted to know more, so here is my answer: a “trial meet-up” to pave the way.
Finally, our exciting journey in Pasuruan had to come to an end. We headed back to Surabaya taking the 02:55 PM train from Pasuruan Station and arrived at Wonokromo Station at 05:01 PM.
Although it was only a few hours, the experience of exploring “Madinah van Java” left a deep impression on us. Hopefully, this will be the opener for future meet-ups in Pasuruan that are even better and more organized.
This small city deserves to be seen by the world!
