Hello LGs,
What better way to start our ConnectLive 2025 journey than with a meet-up? On Thursday morning, September 18, as we planned, @Praniketmore, @Shubhu1, @ShubhamWaman, @Supriyadevkar, @Rushikesh_joshi, @Ketan_Kangankar, @abhishekpatk, and @DurgaK03and I met early in the morning at 5:30 AM IST, a couple of hours before the flight, for an interesting accessibility meet-up at Pune Airport. Under @AnshukMitra’s challenge, it was a fantastic idea. (We missed you, @MerlinThomas, @TusharSuradkar, and @NERKARAMIT)
We were hyper-focused and excited at the same time, as a lucky few invited local guides to the Google event.
The new airport expansion’s well-thought-out design impressed us. Wheelchairs are readily available everywhere, and workers are on hand to assist travelers all the way to the plane. The innovative brown tactile route lines, which provide vital instructions to facilities such as restrooms and elevators for those with disabilities, were a standout feature.
The elevated approach roads, which were built to make crossings easier to identify, were also covered in the course. It served as a potent reminder that everyone gains from inclusive infrastructure.
This pre-ConnectLive exercise, which demonstrated the practical applications of mapping and accessibility, was the ideal way to start our journey. My sincere gratitude to my fellow travelers for their astute observations and to @AnshukMitra for the challenge. Let’s work to create a more accessible world.
I hope you like this recap.
Cheers!
