Recap: [In-Person] India, August 10, 🕰️ [Meet-up] Exploring Heritage: Clock Tower, Lucknow (The tallest clock tower in India)

Hello Local Guides,

On 10th August 2025, I had the pleasure of hosting a heritage-focused meet-up at the Husainabad Clock Tower, Lucknow. This landmark is not just any monument — it proudly holds the title of India’s Tallest Clock Tower, standing at an impressive 67 metres (220 ft).

I was delighted to be joined by Mr. Ankit Srivastava, a fellow Local Guide from Lucknow. Together, we explored the Clock Tower and some of its adjacent attractions like Rumi Darwaza and Sheesh Mahal.

:sparkles: Our On-site Experience

  • :camera_with_flash: Had a photo session capturing the grandeur of this architectural marvel designed by Richard Roskell Bayne in 1881.

  • :wheelchair_symbol: Verified that the Clock Tower is wheelchair accessible.

  • :admission_tickets: Entry to the Clock Tower is completely free.

  • :framed_picture: Explored the Picture Gallery, which displays rare photographs and information about the Nawabs of Lucknow.

    • Ticket Price: Rs. 20 for Adults

    • Children: Free Entry

  • :classical_building: Also admired the nearby Sheesh Mahal Building, which added charm to our heritage walk.

:laptop: Virtual Meet-up

Along with the physical walk, we also hosted a Virtual Meet-up via Google Meet, where many Local Guides joined in.

Special thanks to:
:folded_hands: Mr. Tushar, Mr. K.K. Sharma, Mr. Utkarsh , Vijendra, Anshuman,Sonam Ji and many others for their active participation.

If I missed mentioning anyone’s name, my sincere apologies :folded_hands: — your presence and contributions are deeply appreciated.

:memo: Learnings & Contributions

  • Added and updated photos on Google Maps

  • Verified wheelchair accessibility & entry fee details

  • Enhanced nearby landmark listings for better visitor information

:cherry_blossom: The Essence of Lucknow

During the walk, one iconic phrase kept resonating in my heart:

:sparkles: “Muskuraaiye, Aap Lucknow Mein Hai.” :sparkles:

:sparkles: “मुस्कुराइए, आप लखनऊ में हैं।” :sparkles:
:cherry_blossom: “Smile, because you are in Lucknow.” :cherry_blossom:

This famous saying perfectly reflects the city’s warm hospitality, cultural richness, and timeless elegance.

:folded_hands: Closing Thoughts

This meet-up was a wonderful blend of heritage exploration, photography, map contributions, and community connections. By hosting both in-person and virtual sessions, we ensured a wider participation and meaningful exchange.

A heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ankit Srivastava for joining me at the site, and to all virtual attendees including @TusharSuradkar Sir, @K.K.Sharma Sir, @VijendraPatidar @YatindraPandey Anshuman @SonamW

Together, we celebrated one of Lucknow’s greatest treasures — the tallest clock tower in India — and contributed to making Maps more helpful for everyone.

Excellent recap @Gvipin ji. The clock tower looks stunning. Are visitors allowed to go upto the top? It’s maintenance is very impressive. Loved the fact that meet-ups are happening in Lucknow as well.
