In celebration of the 9th anniversary of the Local Guides Connect forum and in honor of the invited Bangladeshi Local Guides attending Connect Live Tokyo 2025, the Bangladesh Local Guides community organized a very special and thematic meetup.
The event was hosted by Jahangir Alam, a dedicated Local Guide and government service holder who travels frequently due to work — a journey that led him to discover the Local Guides program.

The meetup was designed to blend celebration with purpose. It took place in a professional training room at BRTC Mirpur Bus Depot, which provided a perfect environment for structured discussion and networking.
Attendees included 43 Local Guides from across the country, including two of the Connect Live Tokyo invitees — Mahabub Hasan and Biswajit Chakraborty.

Mapping Discussion – A Collaborative Exchange
Since multiple Local Guides from Bangladesh are heading to Connect Live Tokyo 2025, we held a productive Map-based discussion session. The goal was to highlight and document challenges and issues faced by Local Guides in Bangladesh — especially those that are difficult to explain through forum posts but are significant enough to present directly to the Local Guides team at the global summit.
This session led to valuable insights, as participants shared:
Real-life mapping issues they encounter
Suggestions for improvements
Ideas to enhance user experience and contribution effectiveness on Google Maps
These contributions have been carefully recorded and will be presented by the attending Local Guides in Tokyo.
