Recap: [Hybrid] India, January 28, Jadu Colony Flower Market Meet-up in Kolkata

So we have successfully conducted the Jadu Colony Flower Market Meet-up in Kolkata. I have visited some shops during this meet-up and supported them with the help of Google Maps.

So I have reached the Jadu Colony area on time and started exploring the place; there are so many shops situated in the area. There is a big community bazar as well, including some general stores.

So I have talked with a few shop owners and educate them about Google Maps. One of the shopkeepers of a small shop told me that he doesn’t want his shop on Google Maps because people will give reviews (probably negative), and it can impact or completely shut his store. Local Guides, do you have anything to say on this?

I walked in the beautiful Flower Market; it was looking so colorful and vibrant. I have clicked some photos and videos that I have uploaded to Google Maps, and also I will give a review soon. I have also conducted a virtual tour of this flower market for all the attendees who joined virtually.

Thank you to everyone who joined today’s meet-up:

The flower market is fantastic with so many beautiful flowers to buy. Wonderful recap @Shaunak
Regarding the business owners not being receptive to adding their business on Maps. We can try to educate them about the overall benefits of a business being on Maps and the fact that responding to reviews is a great way of interacting with the customers. Though in the end, it’s their choice and we can only suggest them.

Thank you so much @Ssiddharth2000 ya actually, in our city, these kinds of businesses work under an association. In many places 100s of small shops come together, and we call it a community bazar. These community bazars are actually added to Google Maps, but not the single shop.
