Hello Local Guides,

Hosting my first official meetup as a co-host alongside senior Local Guide Tushar sir was an incredible experience. Here is the full story and recap of our memorable day exploring South Mumbai together!

The Journey & The Meetup Point

I started my journey in the morning from Borivali, catching a Western Line local train straight down to Churchgate.

We kicked off the physical meetup near Churchgate where I met @TusharSuradkar sir and fellow Local Guide @HarshadPatil .

Chai Pe Charcha at Shiv Sagar

We headed to Shiv Sagar Restaurant (Churchgate) to relax and catch up over warm cups of chai.

Tushar sir brought fantastic Local Guides India stickers, personalized coasters, and community merchandise that made our table look vibrant.

While sipping tea, we discussed quality contributions on Google Maps, writing impactful reviews, and best practices for taking clean photos for local businesses.

Connecting with the Wider Community

During our meetup, we connected virtually with passionate Local Guides across India via a live Google Meet call.

It was great interacting with Amit, TravellerG sir, Sarath, Sumedh, Supriya, Guru Krishna Priya, and many others. Sharing real-time updates and exchanging mapping experiences across different cities added immense energy to the day.

Marine Drive Photowalk

After our tea and discussions, we walked toward the iconic Marine Drive promenade.

We displayed the India Local Guides Meetup banner, clicked group pictures against the sea breeze, and captured architectural and scenic frames around the promenade.

My Personal Takeaway

Hosting and meeting experienced contributors in person gave me a deeper perspective on how our contributions help everyday people find accurate local information. Connecting with such supportive peers makes the Local Guides journey even more rewarding.

Kudos for hosting the 1st ever Mumbai meetup. I stay in Mumbai but am in Pune for another 2.5 years. After that definitely will catchup :ok_hand::ok_hand::ok_hand::relieved_face:
