[RECAP] Bodegas típicas de Poble Sec, Barcelona

Hi local guides!

After some hesitation, I had the pleasure to organize my first meet-up last week. I have to say the event was a complete success because everybody showed up and we had an incredible good time all together, so thanks to local guides @Aroha, @Alex_Bové, @Elenkies, @GeorgeBrown and all the rest- whom I cannot find in the forum list to be added-, for joining and for all the contributions, tips, pics, vids and good vibes, but most of all thanks to @Phunky for motivating me to take the step

and also helping me throughout the process.

During the meet up, we had the opportunity to visit some of the most popular cellars in the traditional yet multicultural quarter of Poble Sec. These cellars offer a wide range of craft beers, homemade vermouth and premium wines, which can be easily paired with highly-recommended freshly-made tapas and pintxos. It was great to go with a small group so we had the opportunity to share and try different choices and we all agreed that the 1st stop, Quimet & Quimet, probably offers the best cold pintxos in the area, not only because of the quality of the products and the combination of flavours, but also because these are masterly prepared by the owner right away at the bar, so you can see and enjoy the whole ritual. On the down side, the place is both tiny and busy, so not really for groups unless you arrive at opening like we did. Indeed, I had included a maximum of participants in the event due to this limitation. The other cellars we visited were less touristy and much bigger, and both stood out for the appealing decoration and the vibrant atmosphere, so they offer a better experience for big groups. Plus, they offer concerts at weekend.

Now, I would like to say that organising the meet up through maps was fairly easy, but the options you get are quite limited. For example, I expected to have the possibility of sharing a list and a map I had created with Google Maps and My Maps, but there was no place to share links and hyperlinks were not allowed in the explanation part. What is more, I could not even link to Google Maps the different cellars to visit, so in the end I created a PDF with all the information and sent it to all the participants as they were joining the event. Many participants told me they found the PDF really illustrating and useful, as it included links to the list, to the map, and to a fun kahoot I created for the event. Check and try out the kahoot here!

Now, it’s time you organize your meet-up, I’m already working on my next!

Let’s Guige!
