Hosting meet-ups on a social cause where like-minded people come together, discuss and share their experiences is always what I cherish.

I never felt the essence of hosting a virtual meet-up but thanks to Kashif and Jane for boosting me up to hold yet another Meet-up on Accessibility but this time a virtual one.
The meet-up started on time though some were late but I appreciate their willingness to be part of it.
It began with my introduction alongwith Kashif and Jane’s … Without these two people, the meet-up couldn’t be as successful as it went.
We started our presentation in which some reviews in Hindi were also included by Salmaan and me.

And then we shared our experiences that why we were keen to write these reviews, what we feel at these specific places, and how our contributions (google maps reviews and photos) will impact our communities and people with different abilities.

We discussed the current scenario of accessibility and the need of it. We focused on making hospitals, clinics etc accessible as they are part of emergency services and still many lack accessibility features.

I shared about #RamaKrishna temple in Delhi which has traditional staircases but they have added a automatic chair for different abilities which shows - “where there is a will there is a way…”

After presentation, I invited all participants of the meetup to share their opinion, knowledge and experience with us. We even discussed about making the shop owners aware about Accessibility. We discussed on how we can help special people by introducing them to technology.
Falguni - shared her queries related to marking a railway station accessible or not if the entrance lacks accessibility but the platforms are accessible

Rosy Ji shared about her experience on her visit to a local bank which was inaccessible in the past but how her efforts helped in adding accessible ramp.
Tejal Ben shared about her experiences in blind school where the children don’t even know about such technologies which are made for them.
Salmaan shared his reviews before the Meet-up which were used in the slides. He explained how can we convince shop owners to add accessible features. He gave an example of a bakery shop in Bengaluru.
Overall, it was a fruitful meet-up specially because of the attendees. You guys made me feel proud. Thank you to everyone from my bottom of my heart for joining my meet-up… Hope you’ve learnt something new.
Remember whenever you visit a place do add accessible information to the maps. #MakeOurWorldAccessibile
