[RECAP] Accessible Gurugram Episode 4 : Bus Stops

After the lockdown, Gurugram is opening up in phases and people are increasingly traveling by bus to various places within the town.

In Gurugram recently new buses with a low-height entrance have been introduced whose height matches perfectly with the platforms at the bus-stops.

Various bus stops in Gurugram were visited and the following was checked:

  1. Accessibility of the bus stops.
  2. Availability of ramps at the entrance of a bus stop.
  3. Availability of ramps at the exit of a bus stop.
  4. Height of the bus stop platform to ease accessibility when entering or exiting the bus.

Here is a brief summary of the accessibility check.

1. Marble Market Bus Stop

:wheelchair: :x: The access ramp is present but the access is blocked since it is via the footpath or sidewalk.

2. Nagar Nigam Bus Stop

:wheelchair: :x: An entry ramp exists but the exit ramp is absent or is obscured or damaged preventing any practical use.

3. Hero Honda Bus Stop

:wheelchair: :x: The entry and exit ramps are either not present or are damaged for any practical use.

4. Kadipur Chowk Sector 10A Bus Stop

:wheelchair: :heavy_check_mark: This is a fully accessible bus stop with both the entry and exit ramps present and in excellent condition.

For all the bus stops checked above, the platform height was as pre the requirement for a smooth entry into the bus for a wheel chair.

Thanks for sharing the recap, it is awesome. It will help many people.

Just want to know the low buses have automatic ramp or not.

Thank you @RosyKohli for the appreciation.

No, there is no automatic ramp that I could see, though that will be ideal to have.

And the bus also does not stop close to the stop to place a ramp :disappointed:
