Recap - 36 Photo Walk - Penang

Date: 23rd March, 2019

Location: Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia

Co-ordinates: Chulia Street

Time: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

**Attendees: @AlsmieA **and I (my wife as well, but she didn’t contribute anything :stuck_out_tongue: )

Plan: To explore Chulia street & Armenian Street , connecting LIttle India in between to explore attractions that we missed out before. Also, with 36 Photo walk theme in place, to take quality photos and add to the map.

Outcome: Fantastic.

Tip: Never ever forget to take water supplies on photo walks

I am so happy that I finally led my first photo walk on 23rd March 2019. I was extremely inspired by @PaulPavlinovich 's Photowalk during CL18 and thought it was a fun way to explore your neighborhood and take quality pictures too.

Last year, I had absolutely no idea about a Photo Walk and after going through the re-caps I realized that I missed a lot of fun. So, for 2019 I was keeping an eye on the event and thankfully had a chance to lead the event.

Though I was expecting a surprise number of attendees, but it didn’t happen. Nevertheless, I had Alsmie to accompany me for the photo walk.

Yep, we kinda look similar and surprisingly had almost the same outfit (wait for it, I will turn my cap as well in a moment :p) .

Being a Local, Alsmie pointed me towards a very famous Kuan Yin Temple (that I completely missed in all my previous visits to Chulia Street)to start our walk.

[ I think its best to Introduce my favorite Chulia Street Attractions on Google Maps List - I’m still in the process of adding reviews of the places I visited ]

That’s where the creative side kicked in and I managed to get some cool shots (I am not going to swamp you guys with photos, If you continue reading you will find the link to the complete shared album)

Yep, this is how we do. That’s me in the spotlight, trying to take a close-up shot (You will find it in Shared Photo Album, it was worth the effort).

After that, we decided to stick to our Map that we had for this walk and basically cover the entire area for my favorite and Alsmie’s favorite places.

On a boiling hot day (it went up to 36 Celsius, no kidding | we were completely dehydrated) we managed to walk the entire map, had great discussions, took some quality shots and I am super happy to be able to make a new friend, who is super creative, humble and always wears a smile

I am very happy that I was able to do this and looking ahead for future 36 Photo walks.

Thanks once again to:

Paul - for the initiative

Alsmie - for showing up and leading the way

My Wife - for always being there

Super excited to see the final Re-cap post from Paul that would summarize this year’s 36 Photo Walks.

Cheers

One more thing, you and @AlsmieA , both are great photographer. I have regret why I didn’t took some training from you there for taking awesome photographs. :open_mouth:

Great walk @OmerAli - a walk doesn’t have to big to be fun so I’m glad you met up with someone and had your wife with you. Is she a Local Guide too?

Thanks @PaulPavlinovich

Yeah she’s a Local Guide as well. At first, she always felt uncomfortable watching me taking photos and pulling over at places to add things on maps, gradually she started doing it too (perhaps, she thought : He’s not going to stop so let’s find an activity for those times).

After CL18, watching all the pictures and hearing about all the great people and stories over and over again she got obsessed as well. She’s on Level 7 climbing up pretty fast and I think she will be applying for CL19 as well

@KashifMisidia bhai

thanks a lot.

I wish we could do this together either in Penang or in Karachi, but, next year hopefully.

Yeah, we went through most of the places that you and I previously covered.

Also, indeed @AlsmieA is a great photographer, he knows what he’s doing, whereas I am the post-processing guy :stuck_out_tongue:
