{Recap} 12th Local Guides Knowledge Sharing Meet-up - Frere Hall Karachi

Hello, Local Guides,

Some time ago, we had a great meet-up In Karachi, today I want to share a recap of a meet-up that was the beginning of some great friendships among us.

The suggested meet-up was planned at the Pakistan American Cultural Center, but we changed the meeting point from the Pakistan American Cultural Center to the famous & historical Frere Hall because of some management issues from Lincoln Corner at PACC.

So I, @Bilal_shaikh & @JoharK

arrived at Frere Hall in my car, where @Swalay was waiting for us with some new friends. We met @Shaheen_Gul & @mariazaib there along with Swalay.

After we reached and settled there, first we decided to have a little walk around the Frere Hall, which is not only a beautiful tourist attraction, a huge public park but a historical Landmark of Karachi City.

We took some photos, (which I’m not showing all now, & holding them for my future Connect post about this fantastic park  ), and then we back to the park, and made a round sitting on the grass.

We started with our introduction, although several times we met each other virtually, it was the first time when we all were in one place together physically.

After the introduction, I started with the basic information about Google maps, and how we can create a great impact by our genuine Contributions on Google Maps to our economy & tourism.

During our discussion, @MAKSiddiqui and @AsifShahmiri also joined us there, so after that, we began the meeting again. We illustrated to them how they can put their contributions to__Google maps__ to make travel more comfortable for people around the world.

And how can they use local guides to connect forums to learn more about their unanswered questions and problems regarding Google maps?

We explained in detail the positive impacts of Google maps on the development of the local economy and local businesses. The big example from which they comprehend easily was online cab services all over the world, which are much dependent on the directions of Google maps.

And the major benefit of Google maps is that anyone who has physically in business, like a small shop, restaurant, Dhabas, factory, or office, which they don’t have any website or cannot manage/afford any webpage, can also introduce their main dishes or products with timings, pictures, phone numbers and website by "Claim this Business" option.

During the meetup, :wheelchair: Accessibility was our main concern to describe. Because here you can rarely see the facilities for wheelchair users except in hospitals, parks, and some restaurants, the rest of the places never care about the people who use wheelchairs to access any place.

Awareness for :wheelchair: wheelchairs Accessible ramps, entrances, seatings, washrooms, and elevators are essential as they are providing their rest to customers or visitors.

The best part of the meet-up was meeting my dear friend @JaneBurunina virtually, and meeting Local Guides from Pakistan one by one. We all appreciated that she spared her time to meet us. Jane was cheerfully surprised when she saw the Ukrainian flag badge on my shirt which was gifted by my unknown Ukrainian friend from CL 19 :gift: :ukraine: :star_struck:

Meet-up ended with the exchange of contact numbers, and now we all often meet each other on different occasions and events.

Yes, I’m a fan of your Knowledge Sharing Meet-ups.

Congratulations…

4 hours of meeting? That is a lot of time. Of course, friends left before dinner - they also have their pressure…

Sad that you had to have your Biriyani alone.

Video is nice & have commented in YouTube.
