I learnt something from @Sayo some times back which has since then helped me keep track of places I visited and makes me get a location easily to the places I have visited.
He taught me how he use to star places he had visited since then I cultivated the habit.
Aside starring a place there are other forms to identify a place among which are Favourites places, want to go places etc.
Do you also star places like me?

I usually don’t star places I’ve visited because my GPS location is always on and data connection too which enables the map pin those places and ask questions on some occasions if it didn’t get the place. The only places I star nowadays are those places I marked for my next visit. But these stars can help you keep track of some places that are important.
I use a similar system. When I find a new place I want to go visit, I save it with a green flag. After I go there, I change the green flag to a yellow star. My most treasured locations get a red heart. I love how, for me, Google Maps has become a place for recording travel memories!

Exactly @MrLabule . important places for me get a favourite mark, while places have been to gets a star mark. Other places I want to visit get a wants to go mark.
